This week kicks off in Bisbee, Arizona - one of our favorite places to visit. After a quick stop in Lowell, I take the Land Rover Defender 110 Hi-Cap into Coronado National Forest to do some exploring and discover some hidden gems along the way. Swimming holes, ruins, historical landmarks, and some gorgeous campsites. Following a visit to Patagonia, Arizona, for some coffee and breakfast, I talk a little more about the aluminum Zarges K470 boxes.

Durango, Colorado, is one of our favorite cities in the United States. Why? It’s in the Goldilocks-zone between not-too-big and not-too-small. There are interesting attractions here, but it’s also a contemporary, four-season working town where one could comfortably settle down. The food is good. There are snow-capped mountains 45 minutes to the north, desert 45 minutes to the south and Utah’s sandstone playgrounds an hour to the west. We can see ourselves making a home here, someday!

This week, on venture4wd, I travel west through Ontario, toward the Great Lakes. First, I stop in Missinaibi Provincial Park, where I experience a lovely Canadian backcountry. Then, I continue to Agawa Bay on Lake Superior. This board contains the places I discovered along the way!

This week, Shannon and I venture into northern Vermont, where we enjoy some delicious food and seek out some great places to camp! I also head out into the backcountry in the Jeep to explore the Green Mountain State's vast network of gravel roads and primitive town highways. Adventure is afoot!

Stymied by a broken foot in Vermont, this week, I take a look back at one of my fondest hiking adventures in Zion National Park, located in the southwestern corner of Utah. This board contains all of the places of interest featured in episode V17E2 of venture4wd, both in Utah and Vermont!

Recorded in August, 2019. In this episode of venture4wd, I explore both the backcountry and coastal attractions of Nova Scotia, Canada. This board contains the location of a small, backcountry campsite located next to a secluded lake.

Not afoot, but literally, a foot. Shannon and I returned to full-time mobile living in this chapter, but things are off to a rough start with a fractured metatarsal. Hobbling around on crutches and wearing a thicc boot while experiencing the Green Mountain State is no less an adventure. This board highlights some of the places we experienced, along with featured destinations, in episode V17E1: Adventure is a Foot in Vermont!

While our first week in Vermont wasn't exactly smooth sailing, we did find some lovely places to camp, and a very enticing track that we weren't able to explore in its entirety. This board contains locations for two campsites in Green Mountain Nationa Forest, one of which is a superb spot for an extended stay, and the location of a scenic, meandering, primitive road.

This week, we venture into one of our favorite destinations in West Virginia: the lovely renaissance town of Thomas, and the surrounding Monongahela National Forest. This region offers a perfect mix of front-country attractions, and backcountry scenery and adventure. We spend some time camping with our friends, @family_adventures_overlanding, and then take the Jeep out touring among the rhododendrons!

It was a limited travel episode since we spent most of the week at OK4WD getting work done on the Jeep, but we did enjoy a lovely Father's Day outing with some interesting new places in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

More tinkering this week, as I work hard to restore my long-time home on wheels. In this episode, I focus on upholstery work, which includes a comfortable new mattress, and I also change how my fog lights are activated, using a new switch panel. This week, we take our Winnebago Revel up to Connecticut for a big electrical upgrade. We seize the opportunity to eat at some amazing restaurants, take in some scenery, and make an adventure of our trip to RoamRig. While we’re still spending time with my family in Pennsylvania, and the Jeep is undergoing maintenance, we aren’t doing much traveling at the moment. Although we are still going out on the town and enjoying some of the unique eateries and destinations that rural southeastern PA has to offer. Here are a few experiences that we shared in episode V16E2 on YouTube.

In this episode, on YouTube, Shannon and I abruptly turn east, and travel to Pennsylvania due to unexpected circumstances, but not before exploring some of western Utah’s desert mountains, and a picture-perfect visit to the Bonneville Salt Flats. Back in southeastern, Pennsylvania, I take some time to enjoy a scenic hike among the lush green trees and a babbling stream in late May.

While out exploring BLM land in western Utah, Shannon and I discovered an old mine, located deep in the desert mountains.

In this week’s episode, Shannon and I kick things off in the backcountry of eastern Utah, and wander north into the Uinta Mountains, where I do some exploring with Kevin from Lifestyle Overland. This board features three of the remote campsites that we enjoyed, in addition to a lovely campground we stayed at in Durango, Colorado.

In this episode of venture4wd, we are based outside of Sedona, Arizona. I take the Land Rover deep into the backcountry to do some exploring away from the popular tourist areas. Adventure is afoot! This week, we venture into Coconino National Forest to explore the backcountry around Sedona, where the Arizona landscape shows off its most vibrant colors. Mother nature tests my resolve as I endure a windy evening in the ground tent. The Land Rover Defender 110 traverses Schnebly Hill Road with grace and aplomb as inconsequential bits fall off. The episode concludes with a picturesque hike along the Hangover Trail.

This week, we find ourselves surrounded by trees and mountains in Prescott, Arizona. Every year, I visit this town for amazing food and drink, vehicle service, and memorable backcountry adventure. At Summit 4x4 Company, our Winnebago Revel gets an ARB air compressor kit from Agile Off-Road. I talk about my transmission preference, Hi-Lift Jacks, awnings, and the Land Rover gets a set of tow rings. I explore some gnarly tracks in the Defender and stumble upon some impressive waterfalls!

We leave Tucson, and start traveling north in the Land Rover Defender 110 and the Revel, but things are off to a rough start. This episode kicks off at Basha's, which is weird, followed by a hike to the top of Picacho Peak. After troubleshooting a problem with the truck, I head off into the desert to explore near Wickenburg, Arizona. Some delicious food is featured in this episode, and I also demonstrate improper use of a soft-shackle.

This week, I explore a wonderful backcountry route in the Land Rover Defender 110 Hi-Cap just outside of Tucson, Arizona. This route features some of the most surprisingly secluded camping experiences so close to town. My legs gets some sun for the first time in years. I prepare a backpacking meal, another backpacking meal, and discover some amazing petroglyphs! At the end of the video, I talk a little about the Thatch app, for iOS and Android.

We venture further into the desert in the Land Rover Defender 110 Hi-Cap, settling in for the week near Ajo, Arizona. I set off into Organ Pipe National Monument to go on a mountain hike, featuring a stunning natural arch. I take the truck out to do some exploring in the lovely Sonoran Desert. Following windy conditions and a rough night in the ground tent, I retreat back to the Winnebago Revel, spill coffee, and spend the day in bed, grumpy and high-maintenance. This week, we delve into the backcountry of southern Arizona in the 1991 Land Rover Defender 110 Hi-Cap. We put the truck through its paces as Shannon takes it out for a drive. I am left to my own devices at a local grocery store, and then spend a chilly February night under the stars in the bed of the Defender. The episode concludes in Coronado National Forest where I enjoy a tent site under some junipers.
