V16E2: Getting the Jeep Back Into Shape

V16E2: Getting the Jeep Back Into Shape

Christopher Shontz
While we’re still spending time with my family in Pennsylvania, and the Jeep is undergoing maintenance, we aren’t doing much traveling at the moment. Although we are still going out on the town and enjoying some of the unique eateries and destinations that rural southeastern PA has to offer. Here are a few experiences that we shared in episode V16E2 on YouTube.

The video itself…

This week’s episode is a bit shorter than usual and consists mostly of me tinkering with the Jeep. However, Shannon and I do take the time to enjoy some delicious places around my childhood town of Boyertown, Pennsylvania!

Delicious places…

If you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich, or a refreshing treat on a hot summer day, look no further than these two stops.

This is easily the best place to get ice cream in the Boyertown area. It’s creamy and smooth, made on-site, with a classical “ice cream parlor” atmosphere. On a hot summer evening, the line of people is usually out the door. My favorite flavor is the cookies and cream!

Brakeman's Cafe

Our first time inside this charming cafe that sits next to the Colebrookdale Railroad. The atmosphere is superb, beautiful, clean, and tastefully decorated space. It used to be an old, brick carriage house! There is an addition that offers more dining space with ample seating for a lot of customers, and a lovely outdoor patio. My bagel sandwich was fantastic! While you can enjoy a coffee there, it’s only so-so. The food and atmosphere are by far the main attractions!

The Jeep might not look like much, but it’s 100% pure adventure-mobile. I’ve lived in this vehicle full-time for four years, and together, we’ve been all over the US and Canada. With a new engine and other improvements on the way, these last four years of travel were just the beginning!

In this video clip, I have a shelf in mind that will add some convenience and versatility to my rear storage area.

At the movies…

Off-camera, on Memorial Day, 2022, my sister and I took my dad to see Top Gun: Maverick. The original Top Gun was one of his favorite movies, so it was a special occasion to see it with him. We enjoyed the film. It was a fun and entertaining continuation of the original story without being too over-the-top.

You’re not going to get a culinary masterpiece here, but you will get a heaping mound of succulent, artery-clogging mozzarella sticks. They were delicious, but I did need to remind them about my order a few times, and I got someone else’s burger and had to report to the server, “Hey, this isn’t mine!” It’s not the best dining experience, but hey - it’s an extremely spacious and comfortable movie watching experience!
