Madden Creek - FR791
In episode V19E4, I explore the Madden Creek OHV route in La Plata Canyon, near Durango, Colorado. It's an infrequently traveled out-and-back suitable for compact four-wheel drive vehicles. No challenging obstacles, only size limitations. Low-range and slightly oversized tires recommended for rough terrain. There are a couple of forest road offshoots and one notable, high-elevation campsite.

The beginning of the trail is a narrow, rocky climb off of the main road. The entrance is a little more rugged than the rest of the trail, so don't let the rocks here dissuade you!

I encountered deadfall at this location that needed to be cleared to fit the Jeep through. It's clear now, but I'm including the location for your reference.

Secluded Saddle

This secluded clearing would be a decent place to pop the camper for the night. It is high-elevation, but the road to this point is rough, and it'd likely be a very private and peaceful place to camp. There is no fire ring here, just a remote open space.
