Gem Patisserie is a hidden treasure of Paris. It is #2 on our 2022 Best Macarons in Paris list. The Caféothèque of Paris
@hilaryinparis
Very cute coffee shop near the Seine with a front room and a back room. Order at the front counter, then take your ticket to the back counter and hand it to the barista and wait for your drink. They serve limited food here (more than just pastries) and it's quite good! Historically, this cafe has had a *very* tenuous relationship with people working on laptops here so their policy changes fairly frequently. As of Dec 2023, laptops are once again NOT allowed. Staff can be a little cranky at times but coffee and ambiance are great. ☕️ Allongé 3.5€ 📶 20162017

Certified café
@hilaryinparis
This one is in one of the classic Paris-covered passageways, which makes it a cozy little option to escape the rain! I would describe this not as a "hole in the wall" but as a "slit in the wall". It is a super narrow cafe with no sitting area and only standing area to form a line and order your coffee. They have a few pastries here, but no other food. Specialty code is roasted on site daily! There is seating at the restaurant just across from it... it was empty when we were there and the restaurant was super nice about letting us sit at their tables. If the restaurant is busy though, it will be a grab-and-go vibe (which is honestly not a common vibe for Paris). Grab-and-go vibe also supported by their exclusively paper cups. Even if they are sustainable, this felt weird to me (not my fav). I like cute little coffee cups and mugs (and places to sit). But, if you're on the go in this neighborhood, the coffee is good and it's worth a stop. ☕️ Allonge: 3.7 € One other location in Paris too.

Paris is a gorgeous place to slow down and take in the views. Sometimes when we visit “bucket list destinations” like Paris, we try and go, go, go, but some of my best memories were made in the slow moments where I simply just take it in. I love just walking the streets and admiring the gorgeous buildings or the view of the Seine. I recommend grabbing a croissant or baguette and go for a walk or rent a bike from a nearby business.
