Paris: FULL Neighborhood Guide & Eco-Friendly Hotels
Find a neighborhood (arrondissement) that suits your vibe, get a lay of the land, and discover Paris' most sustainable hotels!
You're coming to Paris... wahou ! (As the French would say.) Now you need to book somewhere to stay... which means a general lay of the land would be helpful!
Once you know generally where you want to stay, and with a plethora of hotels to choose from, let sustainability be a contributing factor!
My commentary provides practical insight to help you maximize your time here. What’s in this guide is literally what I would tell a close friend or family member asking my opinion about where to stay.
My opinions are based on me, a foreigner, who has lived here since 2016 and explored the city pretty thoroughly. Just don’t forget, they’re still opinions 🙃
This guide includes:
🐌 An overview of how Paris is organized *and why!*
📍 FULL Paris neighborhood guide with my take on each one’s overall vibe.
💚 Classic sites in each neighborhood to orient you.

Perhaps the singular most frequent question I get asked having lived in Paris since 2016 is "do you have any recommendations for a great French restaurant?".
The answer is Yes!
This guide includes:
🇫🇷 20 Classic French brasseries and bistrots I've been to and loved, sorted from least to most expensive with price estimates per person.
🇫🇷 2 Corner Cafes that I truly adore (sometimes 'corner cafes' will also be brasseries or bistrots, but to me, corner cafes have their own special vibe).
🇫🇷 3 Corner Cafes that are specifically for great people-watching.
🇫🇷 5 Restaurants specializing in traditional dishes like crêpes, planches, flammekueche, French-style tapas, and more.
[NEW: Nov 2024] 🇫🇷 13 Restaurants known for their views of the Eiffel Tower and city skyline.
This guide does not include: French fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants.
BONUS: If you purchase this guide and don't speak French, I'm happy to call and make one reservation for you.
You also get:

There are literally so many - where do I even start?! Paris's Asian restaurant scene is bustling with good stuff. If you're tired of French food, seeking some noodles or soup on a rainy day, or looking for some spice, you need to have this list!
I'll first highlight the different areas of Paris where you can find pockets of fantastic Asian restaurants, and then give you a list of all my fav spots.
Noodles (2)
Dumplings/Gyoza (4)
Sushi & Japanese (6)
Ramen (2)
Fusion (1)
Korean BBQ (2)
Vietnamese (Pho & Bahn Mi) (2)
Dim Sum (1)
Hot Pot & Sichuan (3) - still need to add notes
Chinese (3) - still need to add notes
Asian Markets (2)
Adding my personal notes soon!! But in the meantime, I PROMISE you these places are soooo good.
MAY 2024 UPDATES: Personal notes added for Noodles, Dumplings, Sushi, Ramen, Fusion, and Asian Markets.
JUNE 2024 UPDATES: Had one of the best meals since moving to Paris in 2016 at a fine-dining Japanese restaurant! Personal notes added for Korean BBQ, Vietnamese, and Dim Sum.
If it's not clear: I LOVE Asian food, so I'm frequently trying new places. Buy this map to retain access to all future updates!

Paris is a major global city, meaning incredible food from under-represented cuisines is at your fingertips. I have made a point to try restaurants from under-represented cuisines, and these ones are SO GOOD!
It's not hard to find incredible French restaurants, authentic Italian restaurants, and even a plethora of mouth-watering Asian restaurants.
However... this guide is different. I created this to help open your eyes to some of the other wonderful types of food you can savor here, and to shine a light on eateries/food cultures that don't always get as much hype as they deserve.
If you're looking for something off-the-beaten-path (or if you're tired of French food), you'll enjoy this guide.
This guide includes:
✅ 13 places I've tried & loved, including cuisine from Senegal, Israel, Singapore, Georgia, Kurdistan, Africa, Ethiopia, Tunisia, India, and Lebanon.
🇸🇳🇮🇱🇸🇬🇬🇪🌍🇪🇹🇹🇳🇮🇳🇱🇧🇩🇿
🇺🇸🍗 BONUS: An excellent fried chicken joint at a US soul food restaurant.
🤤 4 places I want to try next, including cuisine from Taiwan, Tunisia, and Armenia.

A curated list of all my actual favorites - NOT every single street food place in Paris and certainly not every single one I've ever tried.
By 'street food' I mean generally cheap (<13 EUR, with a few exceptions) grab-and-go options, where there is little-to-no sitting area; oftentimes it's just a walkup window.
Eating in public - like while you walk - is actually not very common in Paris. If you get street food, I recommend finding a nearby park or garden to sit in and enjoy it while you peoplewatch.

7 Sandwich & Burger places
2 French places
5 Kebab, Wrap, Falafel places

This 3-day Amboise custom itinerary has been prepared for Emily and her husband on their first trip to France.
They will be in Paris from April 26th to May 5th and do a 3-day excursion to the Loire Valley. They prefer slow-paced travels that are not rushed, with time to soak in sites and activities.
Emily and her husband are looking for a fun and relaxing side trip away from the bustle of Paris. They want to see 1-3 castles, do wine tasting, a bike tour, a balloon ride, and a boat experience. Museums are not a big focus for them.
Emily is a pescatarian. For food experiences, they're looking for a mix of picnics, cafes, fine dining, and wine tasting.
