💎 Gems

Le Barav
@hilaryinparis
Go early or expect to wait! Phenomenal little corner spot in the heart of the Marais with fantastic food. It's connected to it's own wine shop - you can pick out a bottle yourself for the evening, or order as normal; and you can buy bottles from the shop just to take home even if you don't sit and eat.

11ème Domaine
@hilaryinparis
So so so good! Nicest staff (all very comfortable with English), great planches & food, and wonderful wine. It's kind of two shops connected into one... so the entrance is either on Rue des Trois Bornes OR Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud. They just opened up a 3rd shop on the Rue des Trois Bornes side specializing in cocktails!

A gem of the left bank! Always bustling, great food, great wine, great location.

Le Baron Rouge
@hilaryinparis
OPEN ON MONDAYS! Very small - you might well end up standing over a wine barrel. Be warned: this is the ONLY pop-a-squat toilet I have ever seen in Paris! (Ick.)

Les Amoureuses
@hilaryinparis
Discovered this gem just walking around - it didn’t even show up on Google Maps when I went! I was delighted by the friendly and kind service, and of course the wine!

Les Petits Crus

Wine & test tubes! This unique wine bar serves tastes of wine in test tubes and skillfully pairs the assortment with a variety of cheeses, meats, and/or chocolates. A super interesting experience!

Le Siffleur de Ballons

An instant favorite! Great glasses of wine for ~7€, creative and delicious small plates, cozy inside ambience, and some terrace seating on a quiet street. Plus, open on Mondays! (Closed on Sundays.)

Ambassade de Bourgogne

A lovely spot in the 6th with incredible gougeres (one of my favorite French snacks, and not often seen on menus!!) and fun little wine flights (also very unique to see in Paris).

🍷 Other Great Options…

A L'Heure du Vin
@hilaryinparis
This wine bar is unique in that it specializes in Corsican small bites! It’s located on one of the most popular streets for Asian food in Paris - rue Sainte Anne - and is also not far from the Louvre.

Le 18 Oberkampf
@hilaryinparis
A great, lowkey neighborhood spot in the trendy 11th arrondissement. A Scottish owner, so you’re safe speaking English here, if you want 🙂

Great spot for wine, and the food looked so good! I want to come back here to try some of their dishes.

L'Etiquette - Cave/bar à vins (vins bio, nature & dégustation)
@hilaryinparis
Conveniently located in the dead center of Paris, this wine bar specializes in organic and natural wine. My friends have raved about this place, so it's a must-go for me next time I'm in the area!

Perhaps the singular most frequent question I get asked having lived in Paris since 2016 is "do you have any recommendations for a great French restaurant?". The answer is Yes! This guide includes: 🇫🇷 20 Classic French brasseries and bistrots I've been to and loved, sorted from least to most expensive with price estimates per person. 🇫🇷 2 Corner Cafes that I truly adore (sometimes 'corner cafes' will also be brasseries or bistrots, but to me, corner cafes have their own special vibe). 🇫🇷 3 Corner Cafes that are specifically for great people-watching. 🇫🇷 5 Restaurants specializing in traditional dishes like crêpes, planches, flammekueche, French-style tapas, and more. [NEW: Nov 2024] 🇫🇷 13 Restaurants known for their views of the Eiffel Tower and city skyline. This guide does not include: French fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants. BONUS: If you purchase this guide and don't speak French, I'm happy to call and make one reservation for you. You also get: ✍️ My personal notes for each recommendation 📍 An interactive map of all recommendations 🔓 Access to all future updates (I add to it as a find great restaurants) 🎞️ Linked videos (where applicable) that bring recommendations and advice to life 💙 If you loved these suggestions, I would really appreciate it if you shared this guide with a friend, left a great review, or contributed a tip.
