Restaurants
Pro Tip: I always recommend getting a reservation if the restaurant takes them! Especially with a group of 8, it will be hard to walk up and get in at most good places. You can use the app "The Fork" for some restaurants; I also offer calling for reservations as a service.
Pro Tip: Lunch hours are generally 12-2pm, Dinner hours are generally 7-10pm. Many restaurants close between these hours.
Pro Tip: Pretty much all restaurants/cafes and their wait staff will speak basic English. Maybe not the people answering the phone for a reservation, but once you're there, you don't need to stress about the language.
Affordable:
Bouillon Julien
@hilaryinparis
Bouillons are a super fun French experience, and well known for being very affordable! There are 5 throughout Paris. This one is decked out in extravagant art nouveau/art deco embellishments. You'll find lots of non-fussy, traditional French classics and have a blast admiring the decor inside.
For 4 people, the total bill for 4 appetizers, 4 mains, a soda, and 1 liter of house wine was 90 EUR.
We got the escargot, terrine, oeufs dur mayonnaise (my fav), and veloute froid (cold soup) for apps. For mains we got the bouillon Julien (the namesake hot soup with chunks of beef, carrots, and little pearl pasta), the Parisian salad, steak frites (subbed the roasted potatoes for fries), and the gratin aux courgette (zucchini gratin). All great!
Kid friendly! Spacious, loud, and paper table covers that are ok to draw on (crayons not provided).

Hello et bonjour ! I'm (another) American in Paris.
I've lived in France since 2016 and I loooove sharing my Paris & France recs in hopes I can help others love this city and country as much as I do. I'm quite confident I've seen more of France than most French people, so no matter what you're looking for, I've (probably) done it!
✅ What I'm a great fit for: Mature travelers, couples, solo travelers, and families who enjoy soaking in authentic experiences, great food and wine, off-the-beaten-track gems, classic sites, and sustainable travel.
🌱 What's sustainable travel about? Traveling in a way that is kind to the environment, respectful of local culture, & supportive of the local economy. My trip-planning services are always through a sustainable lens.
❌ What I'm not a great fit for: Travelers focused on bars/clubbing or high-end shopping.
