Originally I scheduled the hop-on-hop-off bus tour to take me around the city but they were disorganized and the schedule was unreliable so I chose to Uber to a few places on my list. It was more economical and I enjoyed walking around a few districts in Sydney. I had a full day of shopping/eating/animal watching and sightseeing. Plenty of varied activities in this guide. Tips if you are arriving via cruise.

Burwood, NSW is a suburb of Sydney just 10 minutes away by train from Central Station. This is arguably the best place in Sydney for Chinese food and East Asian food -- from Chinese regional specialties to stuff from Singaporean hawker stands, you can find it here. When you're in Sydney, skip Chinatown and check out these 6 authentic and delicious places (plus 1 extra dessert recommendation)!

One of the things that is so great about Australia? Whatever the Australians do, it seems to be impossible for them to disappoint you when it comes to coffee ☕. They simply have the best coffee in the world. Even at places where you might expect the worst. Although, do not take my opinion as a fact; I have not been everywhere yet, but from my experience and the shared opinions of other people I met throughout my travels, it could be true.
So, when the coffee is good, we start paying attention to the details. How is the presentation? Is there beautiful latte art? Does my to-go cup look cute? All totally unrelated to the quality of the coffee. But let’s be honest right here: we all think coffee tastes better when there is a beautifully designed swan in our cup.
That’s why this map of recommendations focuses on the coffee places along the East Coast that provide that little extra. The ones that will make you remember drinking that delicious latte and make you want to visit them again.
This map is for the traveler who, just like me, is exploring the highlights of the East Coast at a quick pace and does not want to waste one single cup of coffee along the journey.
📍 Covered destinations in this map: Melbourne, Sydney, Byron Bay, Noosa.

One of my favourite neighbourhoods in Sydney is Potts Point. A real community spirit and picturesque scene. It offers so much beautiful, art deco architecture that gives the area its distinct character: vintage boutiques, fashion, book stores, gift shops, florists, wine shops, pasticcerias, weekly produce markets, and an abundance of my favourite bars, cafes, wine bars, and restaurants. Once you turn that corner on Darlinghurst Road, you are right in the heart of Kings Cross, home to where the nightlife in Sydney once thrived and is truly set on making a comeback with the nighttime economy focus. Wander down Macleay Street, but don't forget the back streets and laneways are truly where it's at!

The Outback is an incredible place and so uniquely Australian, but unless you have weeks to explore via off-roading caravan, it’s difficult to see. We went with some family friends who own a flight tourism company Panorama Air Australia out of Bathurst, NSW (itself a cool town and a beautiful drive from Sydney through the Blue Mountains) and it was an easy and beautiful way to see a part of the country that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Good food has always been a main priority of mine... and it is VITAL that I find the best restaurants wherever I am. I know that a lot of foodies head to Melbourne or Sydney, however Brisbane also has a lot to offer.
While I was working in the concierge department at a hotel in the city I put together this huge guest services list which helped to educate the other employee's on the best restaurants in the area.
Please note: this guide is specific to those travelling and staying in Brisbane CBD. Stay tuned for more guides to Brisbane suburban areas. @travellyconcierge

Planning a trip to Australia? This guide will give you a detailed overview of all the best places to see along the East Coast. I would give yourself at least four - six weeks to experience everything the East Coast has to offer, though the itinerary can easily be adapted to fit a longer or shorter timeline.
This guide includes 11 destinations along the coast, including a breakdown of all the differences between different Fraser Island and Whitsundays trips. It also includes a detailed list of how to get around, where to stay, and what to do in each destination.
I've been to all of these places myself, and also work as a travel agent planning and booking East Coast trips. Send me an email for a free custom made itinerary!

The best markets in Australia: Great food, souvenirs and much more!
We do love a good local market! Being 'in town' on the right day to catch market day is crucial - sometimes they're daily (or nightly!), some are on Saturdays or Sundays, and some are only on every second weekend or so. So do plan ahead - and don't miss out! We love wandering around and checking out the local products and wares - especially the food!!
We're pretty biased and think Salamanca Market in Lutruwita/Tasmania is the best market in the world! Yesssss we know Barcelona's La Rambla Market is pretty darn impressive and we've been to some epic markets in Asia and South America too, but Nipaluna/Hobart packs well above its weight with an amazing local arts, craft and artisan scene, very talented buskers and of course the food is amazing! You can also pick up great handmade souvenirs as well as locally grown fruit, veg and other produce.
Australia's markets are not to be missed. Wander through the stalls and rub shoulders with locals and tourists alike. And, of course, in Australia markets are safe (no pick pockets!), are generally accessible (check the website links below for more!) and many are committed to sustainability with biodegradable, recycled or reusable packaging and no single-use plastics in sight.
Feel good by supporting local businesses and artists. And if you do feel the need to buy souvenirs - check the labelling and make sure you are buying locally made products whenever you can.
OK now we're craving a papaya salad at sunset at Mindil Market in Darwin!!
