Sydney unquestionably claims the title as my favorite city thus far. Its flawless cleanliness, commitment to safety, and an ever-present sense of excitement ensure that delightful surprises await around every corner. However, given the city's considerable size, I suggest adjusting my typical approach and taking full advantage of Sydney's exceptional public transit system to navigate this iconic Australian metropolis. Alternatively, split up the city over multiple days and explore one or two areas per day! 

Below are some of the highlights from my time in Sydney, with my insights on each landmark. 

Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Begin your exploration by heading to the Royal Botanic Gardens, a complimentary haven that boasts some of the most spectacular views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Once you've finished marveling the Opera House from a distance, venture up close and personal by strolling out to Bennelong Point. I strongly suggest exploring the interior of this architectural marvel or catching a show during your stay – it offers more than just operas. However, for today, begin by appreciating the building from all angles as you walk around it, keeping an eye out for seals that occasionally lounge on the northern steps of the peninsula. If you're ready for a rest and a beverage, make a pit stop at the Opera Bar and relish one of the most breathtaking views in town.

Now it's time to draw nearer to the iconic Harbour Bridge. Make your way to The Rocks, an area steeped in history, where you'll wander through cobblestone streets, each curve telling a tale. If you happen to visit on the weekend, indulge in the local artisanal market. Yet, shopping opportunities abound every day of the week. Spend an afternoon leisurely exploring the array of shops, and consider capping off the day with a delightful meal in this charming locale.

Bondi Beach

Bondi stands out as one of the world's most renowned beaches, and it was my home base during my time in Australia. Hop on the train to Bondi Junction and stroll down to the beach. Whether you choose to unwind on the sand, embark on a coastal walk, or give surfing a shot, the day is yours to enjoy. Right across the street awaits a myriad of fantastic fresh food choices, perfect for a delightful oceanside picnic.

Despite a change in ownership in early 2023, these markets continue to thrive in this college-town area. Additionally, during the summer, Sydney hosts numerous markets that pop up at various beaches every weekend, offering a delightful array of treasures and local finds.
