Originally I scheduled the hop-on-hop-off bus tour to take me around the city but they were disorganized and the schedule was unreliable so I chose to Uber to a few places on my list. It was more economical and I enjoyed walking around a few districts in Sydney. I had a full day of shopping/eating/animal watching and sightseeing. Plenty of varied activities in this guide. Tips if you are arriving via cruise.

This is a great place to stretch your legs and walk. Right on the water, plenty of restaurants, shops, and yacht's. Great loop and ends at the Wildlife Zoo and the Wax Museum. I ate breakfast and lunch here. Tagged below.

The Rocks is a great little district in Sydney. Full of shops, restaurants, cobblestone streets and mixes of architecture.

If you arrive via ship you dock here. It's a great neighborhood to walk, full of restaurants, museums, very cool shops, and of course currency exchange and lots of ice cream shops. My suggestion is to end your day in this neighborhood and then you are walking distance back to your ship.

Tips:
*First thing you will notice (that I missed the first time!) is the currency. Australia does not accept New Zealand Dollars. If you dock in Circular Quay there is a Crown Currency Exchange right in the building.
*If you are arriving by ship half of the ship will be disembarking at this port. Be prepared to go through customs as you leave the ship and when you board again. Check the customs site linked so you are aware of what you can bring into Sydney and back on board.
