Sydney is an amazing city that has aspects of so many other cities that I have visited before. It feels beachy like San Diego (similar latitude, just on the opposite end of the world) it feels like a cool city like San Francisco, it has green spaces like New York, there is cool architecture like New Orleans. And yet it is a city all it's own with a unique vibe.
We flew into Sydney before visiting friends in Bathurst, exploring the outback, going diving in Cairns, and then returning to Sydney to depart on a cruise.
Stay:
Pier One Sydney Harbour, Autograph Collection

I highly recommend Pier One Sydney Harbour. Itās part of the Marriott Bonvoy Autograph collection which makes booking on points very easy. All of the rooms have a view of the water and some of the rooms even have a view of the Opera House! The Walsh Bay Suite was a great option for small families as my kids slept on the daybeds by the windows and we had a bedroom to ourselves. The Hickson Suite is also a nice room with a bedroom and a pullout bed (but less fun for kids). The bar and restaurant is also excellent here.

I am a Southern California native, mother of two, military spouse and travel lover currently located in Naples, Italy. Iāve lived and visited many different places and I hope that my travels will help you plan your next great adventure! My guides focus on travel that the whole family can enjoy and feature some of the great places the military has sent us, as well as our own travels. Having lived in many different places, I have local knowledge of a wide variety of places.
Two of my favorite recent travels are a month long family trip to Australia and Singapore and a multi-generational Caribbean cruise. I love that some of my kids first core memories will be of our international travels. It is so heart warming to watch them make friends at a foreign playground and having an interaction with a person that doesnāt speak their same language.
Now, living in Italy we have many more opportunities for travel, both throughout Europe and locally near Naples, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast. We have enjoyed discovering new foods, exploring language and culture. My youngest has an egg allergy that we manage so food and language intertwine often.
