Radmanove mlinice - Central Dalmatia Croatia - Bike Tracks
@Dalila444
Radman mills are perfect excursion trip for spring, peak summer time (could be crowded) and early autumn. Restaurant works from end of June till mid of October. It is reachable by a bus, a car or by taxi boat (drive starts near Omis bridge). It is also reachable by foot, one hour walking from the Omis bridge. Located in the canyon of Cetina river, 6 kilometres from the city of Omiš (pronounced Omish or Omis if easier), traditional mills, atmosphere, rafting (from 25 eur to 80 eur), hiking, canoeing, zip line (around 70 eur), tasty dalmatian food and drinks, area for sport activity, playground, river beaches, posibilities of having various private events call for an unforgetable day and memories. If you want to avoid a restaurant as it could add to your trip expenses, there could still be an option to bring some food with yourself in a bag and enjoying the nature itself, as the canyon and the river Cetina are amazing art of nature. The river beach is hidden behind the meadow, but is amazing for the refreshment as the river is quite cold for swimming. Also, there is a possibility to have an accomodation at Radman's mills. All informations about organised trips you can find online or in the city of Omiš, cute little seaside city.

Rajčica, rimski bunari
@Dalila444
These 13th century dated Roman wells are situated 40 min by vehicle from the city of Split and are very pitoresque day getaway. Their name is Rajčica (better to pronounce it Rai-tschi-tsa, although the name has english meaning of tomato :D). The legend says these wells have never been dried and the local people call it the Stonehenge of Dalmatian Zagora. There is one road that leads to the wells, one part is macadam road and after the road, there is a hundred meters of the path which has signalization and is walkable. It is recommended going on the right after the village of Brštanovo and climbing the macadam road from the east side, as that part of the road is easier for driving, no holes on the road as from the western, shorter side of the road (village Matasi). Car is possible to leave at the end of the road, near the walkable path. This is amazing place for picnic and taking some interesting photos, as the grass is not huge around the wells. On the other hand, all other is not recommended for visiting due to the non walkable paths. In hot sunny days, don't forget to bring a lot of water, sun and insect protection. No phone chargers over there so prepare the battery for your phone in advance. Please do not forget to pick the garbage up after visiting. :)

Izvor Cetine - Veliko vrilo Glavaš
@Dalila444
Although not very well arranged for visitors, this place is nice if you want interesting photos for your social networks. Photos would appear even better when taken with a drone. This is the most famous river source from the three of Cetina sources. This one is Veliko Vrilo (Glavaš or pronounced Glavash), and there are also Vukovića Vrilo and Batića Vrilo, but the mentioned one is the most visited. To reach this location, you would need a vehicle (best would be having a car), in Google maps type "Vrelo Cetine" and it would lead you there, also there is a parking lot to leave a car. This is located in a small village of Cetina, and closest bigger city is the city of Knin. Near this place are also remains of pre - Romanesque church "Crkva Svetog spasa", which is of big historical importance for Croatia. It should be possible to enter the church, feel free to try to open the door. Inside on the northern side (left from the entrance) there is a Croatian pleter (reconstructed) - famous pre - romanesque decoration from the ancient Croatian culture.

Vrgada island
@Dalila444
This island is perfect for all those in search of a slower tempo. There are no cars on the island and the market with few restaurants, the bar also are all reachable by foot. As the prices could be higher on island, feel free to bring with yourself some foods, water and other needed articles. Pine trees, clean sea, easily available wild beaches... Let your stress sail away somewhere else. Below I am leaving you timetable for this destination, reachable from places Pakoštane (Pa-kosh-thane) and Biograd na Moru (spelled as it is written).

Waterfall Krčić Knin
@Dalila444
If you ever find yourself near the city of Knin, just 5 kilometres away try to reach this beautiful waterfall as it is special because with this waterfall ends river Krčić and it falls into the source of Krka river. During summer this waterfall dries up (May to November) but during rain time and winter it has its full power. Also, frozen waterfall is such a sight! Near the waterfalls is a beautiful pedestrian walkway, just be careful on the bridge beneath the waterfall as there could be a lot of water splashing during rain times. Above the waterfall is a "Napoleon road" which leads further to the little villages, main road and later on the source of Cetina river. Good for MTB bikes but very experienced drivers. Beware as there could be cars on the streets. Also prepare for strong wind "bura" in these areas and bring suitable clothes. For those who like long walks, walking to the source of river Krčić is a good idea as there are green meadows perfect for picnic and chill. Water is drinkable. It would take you about less than 3 hours in one direction.

Dugi otok island
@Dalila444
Situated in the middle of the Adriatic sea, close to the city of Zadar, this island (on english Long island) is a very recommendation for staying at least two days. There are 12 little villages on the island with population of around 1600 habitants together, connected with a road. On the island you can come by different ferries whose tickets can be bought online and in the ferry ports. Island is quite good connected from the city of Zadar and harbours on the islands are Brbinj, Božava, Zaglav and Sali. Nautical tourism is developed here, as well as excursion and robinson tourism too. There are many camping places here (Kargita, Mandarino, Dugi Otok). Best way to explore whole island is by renting a car in Zadar and going with the car as on the island it is not possible to rent a car. You can only rent a scooter or a boat there. Having a bike and a bottle of water is also good idea, as the island is not saturated with cars at all. There are marked paths for trekking and cycling. If going with your own bike in Dugi otok, you have to buy a ticket for the bike too. Also you could find paint ball in Sali! If you like snorkelling, there are schools for that here as well! During summer times, there are little villages' festivals with authentic music and local foods. Near you can have a visit to national park Kornati and nature Park Telašćica. There is also highest lighthouse in Croatia "Veli rat", cave Golubinka and Dragon's eye nearby, perfect place for swimming. Don't expect too many party places as on Hvar as this is an island for relaxation and enjoying in the nature. Also, island is good for visiting in late spring and late summer as it is less hot and there should be less people there.

Beaches Sakarun, Veli Rat and Veli žal
@Dalila444
Sakarun is a wild beach with amazing coloured waters, shallow and gentle. Left side of the beach is with smaller pebbles and no natural shade, while right side of the beach has natural shade under pine trees, but also with bigger pebbles/rocks. It would be a good idea to bring sea shoes if you're not used to walk on rocks/pebbles and to avoid touching algae which can be found on the sea shore. Bring umbrella with yourself to protect yourself from strong sunny hours, as well as some food and drinks as the beach bars are quite expensive and non - quality. This is a wild beach, which means no organised restaurants, hotels facilities, no toilets except Toitoi, which could be unhygienic experience. The beach at the moment has some problems with pollution from human influence (garbage left after tourists), which is a pity as it is very different and pretty in comparison to other beaches. There are parking lots which are not free. Beach is also reachable by tourist train, it goes every half and hours or so and one way ticket costs around 3 eur (cash only). Beach Veli Rat is rocky/pebble beach which overlooks at the open sea and highest lighthouse on the island. It is 25 min walk distance from the lighthouse. Color of the sea is mesmerising, but as for Sakarun, bring some sea shoes with yourself for swimming and also good sneakers for walking to the beach. This beach has its natural shade and it has bigger waves as it looks upon the open sea (eastern side is said to be more calm). It is a wild beach so beware of animal life and be cautious where you step. This is amazing sunset spot. Veli Žal is also pebble/rocky beach with amazing clear waters on Dugi otok, reachable by car and with non - free parking lot. After parking lot there is 300 m path which leads to to the beach. There is a fast food at the beach but as for other two, it is recommendable to bring your own food and drinks, umbrellas and sea shoes. Please do not leave garbage on the beach. This beach is quite shallow but after it reaches the depth, also it has natural shade.

Pašman island
@Dalila444
Pašman island canal has one of the cleanest sea on the Adriatic coast, because of the sea currents which change their direction every 6 hours. Recommended places on the island are: - Beach Barotul (pebble, sandy parts, changing places, showers, natural shade, place for volleyball on the beach) - Veliki Bokolj location (if you like hiking, this is a 274m hight) - Galešnjak island (heart shaped island, perfect for drone photos and swimming in the calm beaches) - Ždrelac is biggest village on the island, it has four beaches and a bridge which connects islands Pašman and Ugljan. - Beach Soline (beach recommended for those in search of peace) This island is also good for cyclo tourists, looking for amazing nature scenery. Cyclotourists recognize this destination more and more in the past few years. OPG Matulić is good for natural cosmetics and make up, they also have an online store and their web page for more informations. "Škraping" (schkhraping pronounced) is unique extreme sport done every March on island, it is literally running and biking on sharp cliffs. Pašman is everything, but not a boring island! If you ever plan to visit it, look for an app with all the informations about island and activities there - Pašman Guide, available on Google Play and Apple App Store.

Silba island
@Dalila444
Small area without cars and with bluest sea ever - I think it's said enough about this little gem near Zadar city area. If you're sick and tired with city traffic, sound of cars and stinky air, you could gift yourself with the visit to this island where vehicles are forbidden and every road is a pedestrian road. There is just one village there, with few churches, medieval small castle-residences with forts and of course, many apartments for tourists in the summer time. In the middle of an island there is an interesting tower named "Toreta", which is amazing for photoshooting and climbing to watch the sunset from the height.

Molat island
@Dalila444
Another cute, small island in the Adriatic sea which is not overpopulated nor overcrowded with tourists. Well connected with the city of Zadar, with ferry (2h 30 min to reach Molat) and catamaran ( 50 min to reach Molat) running through whole year, this island is an interesting location for nautical tourists. On this island there is a shop, fruit shop, pizzeria, two restaurants, bakery and ambulance. Noted that here could be higher prices of food and beverages as this is island. Molat is perfect for enjoying life - swimming, walking, hiking, snorkelling or taking kayaks. There is also huge library on the island which is free to use, if you know croatian language :) But maybe some books on other languages could be found here... Do you like carob? Authentic cake on this island is carob cake! And there is something for war tourism lovers - on the island there are remains of a fascist war camp.

Sestrunj island
@Dalila444
It is said that the island looks like a mountain dropped into the sea... Another place for nature visiting and diving, with amazing panoramic views on top of the village. Also amazing place for renting a boat and visiting the island all around, exploring wild beaches, diving or just relaxing in the nature, away from traffics and civilization. Area popular with nautical and robinson tourists. It doesn't have significant accessible beaches.

Olib island
@Dalila444
This island is named as "the king of the sandy beaches". The only place on the island is called Olib as well, which, besides amazing beaches, also have amazing sunset views and is perfect for a day trip. There are shops, restaurants and tourist info. It is possible to rent private accomodation in the summer, but note that the only activities on the island are cycling, running, walking, swimming on the beach. The cars are not allowed on the island. Uvala Slatinica is recommendable for its shallow sea entrance and long coast. Olib is reachable from the city of Zadar by ferry (2h) or catamaran (1h).

Pakoštane village

If you are eager to visit Croatian national parks Paklenica, Plitvice lakes, Kornati, North Velebit and Krka, this cute place is good for your accomodation as it is close to all of them! Bigger cities close to Pakoštane ( Pa-kosh-tha-ne pronounced) are Zadar and Šibenik, famous touristic coastal cities, rich with culture, nice food and interesting activities during spring and summer time (but you could also try your luck and check them out in winter time, a lot of stuff would be closed, but you will have whole places for yourself and few other people). Be aware that this city has strong winds because of its geographical position, which can block transport to and from the city. Be cautious to always check the weather forecast while in these part of the country. Once the strongest wind was measured at 59 m/s or 212 km/h. Except the wind, this cute place is worth giving a visit at least for a few hours or one swim below the mountain Velebit!

Buzet
@Dalila444
Buzet is known as "Truffle city", this is small medieval Istrian city on a hill, close to the border with Slovenia, with size as little as around six thousand habitants. This place is perfect for getting away from the big city life. "Subotina po starinski" (Buzet's city Day) is the biggest event there, with traditions, local gatherings and many local foods to try and buy. The city, although small, has interesting cultural sights and also very interesting gastronomy offers. Wine, rakija Biska (strong alcoholic drink) olive oil and truffles call for a perfect hedonistic experience. Black truffles can be found during winter and summer days, and more luxurious white truffles can be found around early autumn (from Sempember). If you are a nature lover, Buzet has something to offer for you too! There is a walk trail from Buzet to Kotli and Hum (smallest city in the world) which is 10 km long and lasts 4 km. Kotli is amazing scenic nature art - natural pools from a river passing and with it, the village got its name. For professional hikers, there is also a Trail "Seven waterfalls", which is 15 km long and takes 5h to 6h to hike through. Advice is to take the left side of the river Mirna for hiking the trail. Hiking all the trails is at its own risk to take. Can't forget to mention waterfall Sopot, with its interesting 30 meters high fall. Just don't forget to visit in spring or autumn time, as during summer days it got dry.

Smallest city in the world - Hum
@Dalila444
Let me introduce you to the smallest city in the world! This cute, medieval place is situated in Istria, western part of Croatia, one hour by car from Umag city. Hum has medieval fortress and city walls, there are two streets and a main square, also a church. There is around 55 habitants in the city, which makes Hum not just the smallest city in the world, but also a city with least number of inhabitants. Definitely you won't be tired when visiting this whole city and you could even make friends with half of the city here... :)) This city is also a center of old croatian language "glagoljica", which is interesting for a visit as here is also "Glagolotic alley". Alley is full of stone features where it is possible to learn more about croatian history. This alley conects places of Roč, Hum and Kotli so it is perfect for a daily trip as you are visiting few smaller places, all different in its own way. Note that you could visit whole city of Hum in around 5 to 10 minutes to it is recommended to connect this place with some others as well. Authentic drink here is "biska", strong alcoholic drink rakija from mistletoe and in every year, at the end of the month October in city of Hum there are competitors from all over Istria showing their own rakija drinks and trying to win the competition for best rakija. Recommended authentic restaurant in Hum is "Humska konoba" where you can try various local foods and drinks.

Pazin is one among the cutest little cities in the Istrian area of Croatia. First Tuesday of the month, here is a Pazin fair, the biggest one in Istria, which dates from 16th century. Close to Pazin, 10 min by car, nature lovers could admire Zarečki Krov - a rooftop of a cave with nice waterfall. People do jump and swim here also in the summertime! Also, interesting place to visit near Pazin is Sopot waterfall - the highest one in Istria. It can be reached from place called Floričići, turning in place Zajci and following the signalization. This place is for hikers as a part of the route has very steep unpaved roads.

Susak island
@Dalila444
A very hidden gem - found following text on their touristic board page: "Susak is a small island located in the north of the warm Adriatic sea (Mediterranean). It’s famous for it’s sandy beaches, beautiful folk costumes and yellow dost from which the island made. It is this yellow dust which makes Susak unique - even the the most experienced seamen will agree there’s no similar island in the whole Mediterranean! Getting to Susak is not an easy task, while finding accommodation is even tougher. These two facts have kept the island of the touristic agencies radars. Most of them are totally unaware of it’s existance, which is a good thing since it keeps crowds off the island. Island is known for it’s dusty paths running across sand cascades, connecting the village with coves on the other side of the island. During winter island is practically deserted. The only 200 people who live there throughout the year are the people who stayed behind during the big emigration wave to he United States. On Susak a special dialect is spoken, which is so different from standard Croatian that nobody in Croatia understands it. This web page is an attempt of capturing the spirit of this mystical island. Relax and let your imagination take you to this exotic place. Maybe you’ll feel the warm soft dust under your bare feet or feel the smell of the warm sea as it is carried by the mild wind through dark green Susak reed. If this is the first time you’ve heard of Susak, or even if you’ve spend all of your summers there, you need not to look any further - on this page you will find everything you wanted to know."

Karlovac
@Dalila444
This city is usually missed while going toward the sea coast, but if you want a nice daily excursion with different experience from Croatia, you could enter the city of Karlovac, which hide cute little gems to be visited, as Old own Dubovac, a fortress with a museum. It is reccomended to visit it at the sunset time for the best views. You could visit the Karlovac Star, a city centre, which has the best view with drone (as inside you don't have the feeling you are in the star shaped place), the city has a lot of parks and a huge garden divided into three different architectural shapes. There is also freshwater aquarium on the river Korana, city museums and if you visit the city in the summer time, you could get a chance to swim in Foginovo, if you had never tried to swim in the river. All four rivers of the city have places to swim (there are two points for swimming in estuaries, you could say that you swam in 4 rivers in one day :D), but mentioned one is the most beautiful. Four kilometres outside of the city there could also be found a War museum as in the history this city was a point of defense. Fifteen kilometres from the city there are excursion with the wooden boat "Zora" (reservations are needed to be made). There are also possibilities for thematic tourist tours if you are willing to have a guide. Karlovac is the origin from the Karlovačko beer, the city has also their beer days festival, with many interesting venues happening there.

Zlarin Island
@Dalila444
This is one of the sunniest islands in Adriatic sea, with Šibenik being the closest bigger city to it. This island is free from the cars, the traffic, the rush. Immerse yourself in beautiful colours and landscapes on this small cute island gem and make your city getaway just perfect! There are just four places with foods and drinks here, but you will get the opportunity to try amazing Mediterranean dishes. A recommendation is to have a visit to a corals shop or to buy one as a souvenir, as Zlarin is known as an island of corals. Beautiful views from the top of a little hill can be found on Klepac, just perfect for new hikers as it is only 169m high. To reach this island from Šibenik or Vodice, you can take a boat named "Tijat". Probably the most important info is about beaches! :) There are many peeble beaches on the island, but once you enter the sea, you will find sand there. Anyways, swim shoes are always a good option here. There are also wild beaches here for those who want a lonely time of the day.

City centre hides the cutest cozy paths to wonder, promenade and a lot of cultural heritage (museums, churches, Bašćanska ploča which is of huge importance for croatian history and language). You would be amazed with clubs, beach bars and nightlife here, as well. Baška staza Glagoljice (Baška glagolitic path) is a project in which exploring the Baška area, you will encounter 34 stone sculptures describing glagolitic letters, an old croatian language. There is an interactive guide possible to be found in a tourist info spot or some travel agencies there. Sounds like a perfect way to spend your spring, sunny day while having completely authentic photo shooting here, as well. Moon mountain (Moon plato) is an amazing area for hiking and nature lovers, as it is area on Krk near Baška completely covered in stone - both nature made and human made one. Lovran
@Dalila444
Lovran is near Opatija, on the eastern tip of the Istrian peninsula, and the beautiful Lungomare seaside promenade joins these two places. It is perfect place for spring or summer getaway and it is close to both other Istrian cities, Rijeka in Croatia and Italy. Some of the recommended beaches are: Kvarner Beach, Peharovo Beach, Medveja Beach, Icici Beach and Moscenicka Draga Beach. Besides enjoying beautiful Adriatic Sea and walking promenade with amazing landscapes, there are some festival during peak season, so if you visit Lovran during April, you will get to see Asparagus festival, in June there is the Cherry Days Festival, in October there is Marunada - a chestnut festival, where you get to try delicious authentic foods. With amazing architecture, monuments and nature surroundings, Lovran calls for perfect excursion/travel destination.

Buzet
@Dalila444

@Dalila444

Karlovac
@Dalila444
