What people say

"Situated in the middle of the Adriatic sea, close to the city of Zadar, this island (on english Long island) is a very recommendation for staying at least two days. There are 12 little villages on the island with population of around 1600 habitants together, connected with a road. On the island you can come by different ferries whose tickets can be bought online and in the ferry ports. Island is quite good connected from the city of Zadar and harbours on the islands are Brbinj, Božava, Zaglav and Sali. Nautical tourism is developed here, as well as excursion and robinson tourism too. There are many camping places here (Kargita, Mandarino, Dugi Otok). Best way to explore whole island is by renting a car in Zadar and going with the car as on the island it is not possible to rent a car. You can only rent a scooter or a boat there. Having a bike and a bottle of water is also good idea, as the island is not saturated with cars at all. There are marked paths for trekking and cycling. If going with your own bike in Dugi otok, you have to buy a ticket for the bike too. Also you could find paint ball in Sali! If you like snorkelling, there are schools for that here as well! During summer times, there are little villages' festivals with authentic music and local foods. Near you can have a visit to national park Kornati and nature Park Telašćica. There is also highest lighthouse in Croatia "Veli rat", cave Golubinka and Dragon's eye nearby, perfect place for swimming. Don't expect too many party places as on Hvar as this is an island for relaxation and enjoying in the nature. Also, island is good for visiting in late spring and late summer as it is less hot and there should be less people there. "
"Dugi Otok, the longest island in Croatia's Zadar Archipelago, is a captivating destination celebrated for its diverse natural landscapes and serene beauty. Stretching 45 kilometers along the Adriatic coast, the island is renowned for its stunning beaches, including the famous Sakarun Beach with its white sand and crystal-clear, turquoise waters. The island's rugged coastline features dramatic cliffs and hidden coves, while its interior is dotted with lush pine forests and charming, traditional villages. Dugi Otok also hosts the Telašćica Nature Park, which encompasses a saltwater lake and dramatic cliffs, offering excellent opportunities for hiking, swimming, and exploring. With its blend of natural splendor and peaceful ambiance, Dugi Otok provides an idyllic escape into Croatia's unspoiled island paradise"

"Perhaps one of the lesser known islands for the time being, Dugi Otok is well worth a visit. Less crowded, with beautiful natural pools and a blue cave, it's an easy day trip from Zadar. Don't hesitate to go!"
