"Buzet is known as "Truffle city", this is small medieval Istrian city on a hill, close to the border with Slovenia, with size as little as around six thousand habitants. This place is perfect for getting away from the big city life.
"Subotina po starinski" (Buzet's city Day) is the biggest event there, with traditions, local gatherings and many local foods to try and buy.
The city, although small, has interesting cultural sights and also very interesting gastronomy offers. Wine, rakija Biska (strong alcoholic drink) olive oil and truffles call for a perfect hedonistic experience. Black truffles can be found during winter and summer days, and more luxurious white truffles can be found around early autumn (from Sempember).
If you are a nature lover, Buzet has something to offer for you too! There is a walk trail from Buzet to Kotli and Hum (smallest city in the world) which is 10 km long and lasts 4 km. Kotli is amazing scenic nature art - natural pools from a river passing and with it, the village got its name.
For professional hikers, there is also a Trail "Seven waterfalls", which is 15 km long and takes 5h to 6h to hike through. Advice is to take the left side of the river Mirna for hiking the trail. Hiking all the trails is at its own risk to take.
Can't forget to mention waterfall Sopot, with its interesting 30 meters high fall. Just don't forget to visit in spring or autumn time, as during summer days it got dry. "

"Often referred to as the "City of Truffles," Buzet is renowned for its truffle dishes, reflecting the town’s proximity to lush forests where these prized fungi are found. The town's medieval architecture includes narrow streets, ancient walls, and the notable Church of St. Mary, which all add to its historic allure. Buzet’s elevated position offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside, while its local festivals and markets provide a taste of authentic Istrian culture. With its blend of historical charm and gastronomic delights, Buzet is a captivating destination for those exploring the Istrian Peninsula."
