This is an absolutely beautiful place on beautiful water, not to mention an UNESCO world heritage site. If you're here with your dog, I would recommend some early morning walkies to beat the heat in the summer months as well as the traffic. The roads are very narrow and most of the time without sidewalks (depending on where you're staying). The water is beautiful turquoise blue, cool and most of the time very calm. Perfect for jumping in and cooling off, or just hanging out with your neighbors.

The Caribbean coast of Colombia is home to some seriously top-notch hostel culture. There’s not a whole lot to do on the coast besides enjoying nature and a good party, so your experience tends to depend on where you stay. Luckily, there is a place for everyone. From the time I fell in love with the Beach Boys music, I have been an ocean loving girl. I longed to go to the California coast and live the life, surfing, and lying on the beach all day. But growing up in the Southern part of the United States that never was to be. I never lost either my love of the beach/ocean or my desire to see the California coast, but it was a long, LONG time before I could make that dream come true. I traveled the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to Pismo Beach exploring every little place that looked fun, interesting or just spectacularly scenic. As you can imagine--I stopped a LOT.
