Growing up in Boulder, we know the ins and outs of this town. More importantly, we know where to go for good coffee and pastries! 

Here is your list of must hit coffee shops--and one teahouse for the friend that doesn't drink bean water.

Boutique Coffee Shops - BOULDER, CO

A Scandinavian-style cafe and shop with a welcoming outdoor patio and incredible shortbread cookies made by Chef Andrea Uzarowski. 

Andrea’s handmade shortbread cookies are made with Danish butter and locally milled flour. These delicate pastries are always rotating, so you can’t go wrong with any of them. Each one is created and inspired by the people in her life. 

The George - vanilla bean shortbread with housemade toffee pieces.

The Lily - chocolate shortbread filled with chocolate ganache, dipped in chocolate and topped with rose petals and Maldon salt. 

Coffee date or catching up with a friend. 

The space is tight, and seating is limited. While you can work in there (they have good WiFi and outlets) you should get there early to snag a spot because it’s always busy. 

This independent, employee-owned bookstore and cafe is conveniently located in the heart of Boulder. Most evenings they will have some form of entertainment and beer on their covered back patio. Anything from live music to stand-up, it’s a chill atmosphere for everyone. 

I really enjoy their cortados. They have a pretty hearty collection of teas too. 

Those who work from home, or have a heavy computer day. 

During finals week, all of the college kids will be here—it will be impossible to find seating. Other than that, you should be golden. 

This coffee roaster has great sustainable sourced beans roasted locally on the Front Range. They have a rotating selection of seasonal blends, and their pour overs are fantastic. Boxcar doubles as a cured cheese and meat shop, with wine in the back. 

Grabbing a coffee to walk around Pearl St. 

Starting here makes you start on the East side of Pearl, so you'll head west to walk around and check out all of the shops and won't miss anything since you start at the 'beginning' of the strip. 

They have a decent work space, but bad outlets if you need to charge a computer for work. 

If they have it, the Pistachio Rose Water Croissant is a sweet indulgence. 

They also have a really tasty sandwich/specialty meat and cheese shop inside with wine if you are looking for more of an afternoon date. 

Lots of seating, good WiFi, outlets are 50/50. This is the spot that everyone goes to to work. Usually you can find seating on their covered patio, and there are outlets in the back. 

This is 1 of 2 of their locations. The other one is located in the 29th street mall and is much bigger. There always seems to be more space to work at that location, but this one is the original and has a nice outdoor patio. 

The Boulder athlete hangout. This is where everyone goes for a quick bite before taking off on a gravel ride, or grabbing lunch after a run in the Flatties. Allen Skratch founded the sports nutrition company back in 2012 and has since opened this cafe to share nourishing snacks and provide a great communal work space. 

For that one friend who doesn't drink coffee, this one's for you. 

They serve full lunch and dinner menus during the week and brunch on the weekends.

A bikers haven. Coffee is integral to the culture of cycling, and Rapha's clubhouse provides a space for cyclists to connect and immerse themselves in the sport. Rapha is an emporium filled with historic posters, jerseys in frames, and glass-topped tables displaying curated collections. 

Beleza Coffee Bar is a multi-roaster concept coffee shop. They have a rotating selection of roasters that they source their beans from around the country so you can always try out something new. 

January Coffee is a multi-roaster specialty coffee shop, which serves a curated selection of beans from all around the country. John and Kristi are the owners, and this beautiful love story of theirs is one worth asking about. 

Downtown and the west side of Boulder can get pretty overwhelming from time to time. January's location is quietly tucked into a strip close to the 29th street mall, making it a great spot for a 'YOU' day or catching up with a friend.  

No WiFi weekends. WiFi is available during the week, but they encourage you to unplug on the weekends to chat with your community and be more present. 

Their espresso based drinks are delicious and packed with flavor.

An old stone cottage with a long history of being a local community center has since transformed into a modern gathering space -- a cozy coffee shop. 

Before or after a run/hike in the Flatirons. 

It's a couple of blocks away from the Chautauqua trailhead, and is a cute spot to visit after a nice morning outing.

Dushanbe is a symbolic building that celebrates the establishment of sister city ties. From 1987 -1990, more than 40 artisans in several cities of Tajikistan created the decorative elements in the Teahouse, including its hand-carved and hand-painted ceiling, tables, stools, columns, and exterior ceramic panels.
