Exploring Ely, Nevada
Welcome to Ely, Nevada! We're excited to spend the night here and explore this town that we've never really stopped to appreciate before. Our first stop is Old Town, the historic part of Ely that boasts a couple of old museums. As we walk towards the museums, we can't help but admire the beautiful copper roof building on the corner that's built to the corner.
But wait, what's this? A special event ahead! It's a car show, a perfect opportunity to check out some cool cars. We love stumbling upon unexpected events like this wherever we go.
We continue our walk and come across a Lincoln Highway marker. Did you know that this was the "freeway of the old time days"? It was the main route for cars and wagons before the modern highways were built. It's fascinating to see the old photos and learn about the history of this highway.

Local Historic Places
As we explore further, we stumble upon a beautiful park with a fancy sculpture and green grass, something you don't often see in the desert. We also come across a stunning mural on the side of a building that we could spend hours admiring.
We make our way to the Chamber of Commerce to get some good info about the town, but unfortunately, it's not open yet. We'll have to come back later.
Next, we come across a lot of old brick buildings that have been standing for over a hundred years, such as Annie's Casino and Lounge and Liberty. We also find a cool old Radio Shack sign that brings back some nostalgia.
But the highlight of our walk is definitely the Jailhouse. This impressive building is open 24/7 and has been a main place of employment for many years. We can't help but imagine the history and stories that this building holds.
As we continue our walk, we come across stars on the sidewalk honoring famous people who have visited Ely, such as Stephen King and Wayne Newton.
We finally make our way to the Veterans Memorial Park, where we find the car show that we've been hearing about. We're blown away by the number of cars on display, and we can't help but admire their beauty and craftsmanship. We even find a stunning 1923 T that's in pristine condition.
Tomorrow, we plan to visit the Nevada Railway Northern Company museum and other attractions that we missed today. Ely has surprised us with its charm and history, and we can't wait to see what else it has to offer.
