Sicily is like an onion 🧅 whose layers are peeled to reveal yet more layers. Nearly the size of Massachusetts, Sicily - Mediterranean’s largest island - offers a seemingly overwhelming range of textures, tastes and experiences: hilltop towns built from a honey-colored stone that turns incandescent at sunset, blood 🏵️ oranges so sweet you can eat the peel, churches built atop Phoenician walls, adorned with Arab flourishes and covered in Byzantine mosaics, beaches running from grey pebbles to licorice-black sand and always the vast prairie of the sea, stretching to the horizon in shimmering blues and greens.
The island is undeniably Italian but also proudly and stubbornly apart from the mainland, which many locals refer to as "il continente". I've even included some personal anecdotes to give extra color to each destination!

Until the late 1950s, Sardinia’s fabled beaches and azure waters were known only to locals and a select band of yacht-owners. But in 1958, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV ‘discovered’ the remote coastline and set about developing an eco-sensitive paradise; Princess Margaret and others soon followed.
But it’s not all glitz and glam; the beguiling mountainous Sardinian hinterland is full of archeological sites built by the ancient Nuragic people, and rural villages to provide a more genuinely Sardinian foil to the artifice on the coast.
This is a living guide to the very best places to eat and drink in Sardegna. As I travel back to the island - which I do regularly - I will continue to update this list. If you purchase today, you will receive all future updates.
Recommendations cover major resorts but also off-the-beaten-track options that are destinations in their own right. Every place has been verified by me and visited multiple times. Tips for each restaurant include dishes to order and background about the place. I've even included some personal anecdotes to give extra color to each destination!

Many destinations have been in 🐆 fashion and then out over the years but Milan and Lake Como are constant in their splendor. This is a living guide to the very best places to eat and drink when in the area.
Everybody has their favorite of the 30-plus towns and hamlets, all linked by the scenic Antica Strada Regina. To truly understand the local saying, 🚤 ‘the lake should be seen from the lake’, meander through its least explored corners towards the only island, Comacina (where spectacular firework displays mark the feast of San Giovanni in June); or hop over to the ‘pearl of the lake’, Bellagio, on the tip of the cape where the lake splits into two legs.
My recommendations cover the entire lake Como district - the Alps ever-present, vast and dreamy, climate never too hot, never too cold - and Milan capital of fashion and design setting new trends for Italy and beyond. Tips include dishes to order, background about the place, and some personal anecdotes to give extra color to each destination!

Neapolitans believe their cuisine to be among the finest in the world. Parisian will disagree but they will never match the diversity of Naples and Amalfi cuisine made with the most outrageously good yet modest ingredients. Amalfi Coast itslef is an intriguing mix of sophistication and simplicity. A mere seagull's spit from yachts and five-star hotels, another more rural reality exists. Around precariously stacked hill villages, farmers still cultivate small plots of steeply terraced land, they make cheese and down on the coast, tiny fishing communities make a living from the sea. This is a living guide to the very best places to eat and drink when in Naples and Amalfi.

Perfect for a first-timer, or someone who wants to go deeper. Recommendations cover major cities, like Bari, but also off-the-beaten-track options in the countryside that are destinations in their own right. Every place has been verified by me and visited multiple times. Tips for each restaurant include dishes to order and background about the place. I've even included some personal anecdotes to give extra color to each destination!
Fun Fact: Last year I was featured on Delicious Destinations with Chef Andrew Zimmern as his personal guide to Puglia. Videos from our adventure included in this guide.
