Nestled in the heart of France, Lyon is known as the country's culinary capital. This city brims with life and a wealth of attractions waiting to be explored. While it ranks among France's most significant urban centers, two days are often sufficient to take in its many offerings. Lyon's unique charm stems from being traversed by two winding rivers, which bestow upon it a distinct allure. Multiple bridges gracefully connect the city's three main districts: the historic Old Town (Vieux Lyon), the peninsula known as Presqu'île, and the riverbanks on the right bank of the Rhône. For a short stay, it's advisable to choose accommodations as centrally located as possible, ensuring easy access to the city's primary points of interest. While Lyon is mostly walkable, do keep in mind that it encompasses several hilly areas, particularly the Fourvière Hill. For those less inclined to undertake the uphill journey on foot, there's a cable car service available to ascend the heights. Should you wish to extend your journey, Lyon harmoniously pairs with other destinations such as Paris, Dijon (and the Burgundy region), Geneva, and Annecy. Dive into this vibrant city where culinary expertise meets rich heritage, this city is a captivating blend of historical landmarks, vibrant neighborhoods, and a thriving cultural scene. Please note that I'm offering this guide for free, so any tip is appreciated. Another way to support my work is by booking your accommodation via this guide, there's no extra cost for you and helps me a lot to continue creating guides like this. Perhaps the singular most frequent question I get asked having lived in Paris since 2016 is "do you have any recommendations for a great French restaurant?". The answer is Yes! This guide includes: 🇫🇷 20 Classic French brasseries and bistrots I've been to and loved, sorted from least to most expensive with price estimates per person. 🇫🇷 2 Corner Cafes that I truly adore (sometimes 'corner cafes' will also be brasseries or bistrots, but to me, corner cafes have their own special vibe). 🇫🇷 3 Corner Cafes that are specifically for great people-watching. 🇫🇷 5 Restaurants specializing in traditional dishes like crêpes, planches, flammekueche, French-style tapas, and more. [NEW: Nov 2024] 🇫🇷 13 Restaurants known for their views of the Eiffel Tower and city skyline. This guide does not include: French fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants. BONUS: If you purchase this guide and don't speak French, I'm happy to call and make one reservation for you. You also get: ✍️ My personal notes for each recommendation 📍 An interactive map of all recommendations 🔓 Access to all future updates (I add to it as a find great restaurants) 🎞️ Linked videos (where applicable) that bring recommendations and advice to life 💙 If you loved these suggestions, I would really appreciate it if you shared this guide with a friend, left a great review, or contributed a tip.

"If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a movable feast." 🎉 Hemingway, writer of the Lost Generation that he is, has lived the grand bohemian life in Paris, during his twenties. His experience of Paris has changed his life, for it is where he discovered his writing style and met some of the most inspiring people of his time: Gertrude Stein, Francis Scott Fitzgerald, James Joyce and Ezra Pound, among others... With this guide, you'll be able to explore Paris with Ernest Hemingway, at your own pace: the places where he lived, his favorite restaurants and cafes, the homes of his friends, and the neighborhoods that inspired him.... Hemingway arrived in Paris after his marriage with Hadley, when he was 21 and a young unknown reporter for a Chicago newspaper. He left the city 6 years later, after his divorce, and he had become a famous novelist with his first novel The Sun Also Rises 🌞 This extensive guide contains: - 30 places and their history - the complete and precise itinerary to go from one place to another - pictures, books extracts and many anecdotes to explain the importance of each place 📚 - some historic, architectural and cultural notes, to help you appreciate the neighborhood you will see along - a reading list of books to continue your journey... The tour is approximatively 7 km long, and can be done in around 3 hours of walking, or more if you like to take your time. I strongly advise you enjoy the journey and stop at some of the restaurants listed on the way 🍽️ About me 👀 I am a French girl that moved on the Left bank 9 years ago... and never left! I adore reading and walking (I like to do both at the same time, much to my mother's apprehension). I studied literature and history and patiently assembled all the details I give you here, by searching and reading a lot. If you interested in living full-on curious and peaceful literary tours during your Parisian stay, I host private customed tours around Paris. I'll be happy to count you in one of them! 🥐 And if you want more help to plan your Parisian trip, I'll be honored to help ;) you can find all my custom services at the end of the map! 🗺 Don't forget to download Thatch app to access full features!
