I believe one of the best ways to experience a European city is by reaching its highest vantage point for a panoramic view! Sometimes you see rolling skylines, sometimes grand axes or meticulously planned districts, all reflecting deep history. However, when you climb to a city's most famous tower, you often lose a key focal point in your overlook. That’s why I’ve discovered many hidden overlook spots that won’t disrupt your perfect skyline photos or videos. Stay tuned and I'll update this guide through time! BE AWARE: this is a themed map spanning multiple cities or regions, but it doesn’t provide point-to-point navigation for a single trip. So, unless you’re particularly interested in this topic, please consider purchasing with caution! But if you still have bought it, thanks and please: save and always check on this map and visit any of the towers and castles when you are nearby. And I also add small notes for each place so you can quickly find what I like about this place. Enjoy viewing! BONUS - Two free guides: "My Real TravelSummary", & "Markets are distant lives". THANKS Save this guide on your mobile device ahead of time, and you'll find these places under "Your Map" in Thatch app wherever you are! 🗺️📱 My guides are mainly divided into two types: map lists and itineraries, feel free to subscribe to my Thatch profile for future updates! Mercat de Santa Caterina
@hortusquaerens
Tucked away in the charming El Born district of Barcelona, Mercat de Santa Caterina is a hidden gem that beckons with its authentic Catalan charm. A delightful departure from the more tourist-heavy markets, this market offers a genuine taste of local life. The atmosphere here is more relaxed compared to some of the larger markets. The vibrant colors of its undulating, mosaic-tiled roof set the stage for a leisurely stroll through its aisles. Locals gather here to shop for their daily provisions, creating an inviting and genuine ambiance.

Marche Maubert
@hortusquaerens
It's a farmer's market half the week, but I've come across antique furniture, home accessories, jewelries, books and maps for sale here more than once. That's even more interesting. If you're in the neighbourhood, don't forget to stop by and check out!

Museum Market (craft market every third Sunday of the month)
@hortusquaerens
The most beautiful Art & Designers market in Amsterdam. During the few years I lived in Amsterdam, I found a lot of good and cheap things in this market, such as pure wool felt scarves, handmade pottery, etc. It opens on a Sunday every month. To check the exact opening date, check out the official website link attached to this place!

Houtplein, Haarlem
@hortusquaerens
In the warmer months, Houtplein in Haarlem occasionally hosts flea markets. I stumbled upon one on Instagram and decided to check it out—it was a great experience, with very reasonable prices. You can find the market dates through the IG link attached to this location, so be sure to check before planning your visit! I also highly recommend exploring Haarlem’s city center. It’s close to Amsterdam but much quieter, and easily accessible by train or bus.

Nice

Cours Saleya
@hortusquaerens
Cours Saleya is the vibrant heart of Nice, offering a different charm every day of the week. From Monday’s antiques market filled with treasures to the colorful flower and produce market from Tuesday to Sunday, it’s a feast for the senses. On summer evenings, it transforms into an artisanal night market. I was amazed when I visited on a Monday—it was bustling with countless antique stalls and incredible energy. Just a short walk away, you’ll find the Promenade des Anglais and the beach. I instantly fell in love with this place!
