I personally think Vancouver Island in itself is the hidden gem of Canada, so if you're planning a trip to explore the beautiful Island, you're in for a treat!
Born and raised here, I've travelled up and down the island many times to explore, hike, camp, chase waterfalls, eat, drink and be merry. I have put together a list of everything you shouldn't miss while exploring this gorgeous island! I have personally been to all these places and would absolutely recommend. I hope you enjoy!
A total of 40+ things on this map: Restaurants, beaches, hikes, breweries, shopping, things to see and do to help you fall in love with Vancouver Island.
I would personally recommend about 10 - 20 days to fully immerse yourself on the Island. This will ensure you don't have to drive for hours on end every single day and ensures you have ample time to explore everything and even have a bit of relaxation time in there.

The Outback is an incredible place and so uniquely Australian, but unless you have weeks to explore via off-roading caravan, it’s difficult to see. We went with some family friends who own a flight tourism company Panorama Air Australia out of Bathurst, NSW (itself a cool town and a beautiful drive from Sydney through the Blue Mountains) and it was an easy and beautiful way to see a part of the country that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Nederland is a small former mining community just up the canyon from the town of Boulder, known for quirky small town vibes and stunning views. Of course you can use this guide easily with Boulder as your home base, but everything we've included here is actually in the mountains. This area is a bit less traveled than areas in the I-70 corridor, and thus it's a bit more locals-oriented, with all the fun of the more touristy areas. Just an hour drive from downtown Denver, this area is not to be missed!
Inside you'll find suggested itineraries for two days of fun, that include:
-Lodging options
-Restaurant options with fall-forward vibes (ALL have both Gluten Free and Vegetarian options)
-Best hikes for viewing foliage, all in the easy-moderate range of difficulty
-Suggestions for scenic leaf-peeping drives
-Suggestions for epic sunset-viewing spots
The best part is that ALL of these spots are vetted and dog-friendly, meaning you never have to make arrangements for leaving your doggo behind if you don't want to.
This is a living guide, and will be updated as more information is learned. This is a living guide. As I discover more, I'll add more. You only have to unlock it once, and you'll get all future updates.
