Romania is such a beautiful country and it offers so much: the Carpathian mountains, the Black Sea, the Danube Delta, vibrant cities, untouched countryside, castles, medieval cities, fortresses and the list could go on.
As someone who lived in Romania for 18 years and who now lives in NYC, I realized that most people only think of Bucharest and maybe Dracula's Castle when they think of Romania. And unfortunately that's not even scratching the surface of what this incredible country has to offer.
I created this guide to show you all the locations you need to explore so you can plan an epic trip to Romania. The guide is divided into the following categories:
- How to get to Romania
- How to travel inside Romania
- Cities
- Castles
- Lakes
- Scenic roads
- Waterfalls
- Salt mines
- Danube
- Scenic train rides
- Fortresses
- Churches and monasteries
- Roman and Dacian history
- Thermal water spas
- Black Sea resort towns
- Caves
- Other
I hope you visit Romania soon and enjoy its beauty!

The Faroe Islands are the kind of place you would visit for a maximum of a week, as it is an expensive destination, much like Iceland. Renowned for its spectacular sea cliff formations, puffins, and bird watching, this archipelago is perfect for any nature explorer.
Although not as large as Iceland, the Faroe Islands consist of 18 main islands, some of which are easily reachable while others require a private helicopter or special permission. It is necessary to get a car rental to get around, as public transportation is infrequent, and without a car, you may be limited in terms of places you can visit. This itinerary is based on a car road trip.
Tips:
No cash is needed as everything can be paid for with a credit card.
Check the ferry schedule online at https://www.ssl.fo/en/home.
Supermarkets are closed on Sundays, except for Mylnan.
Always verify the opening hours of takeaways and restaurants on their Facebook pages, as the opening hours on Google Maps may not be up to date. Most cafes and restaurants are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
There aren't many food places outside of the capital Tórshavn, so do plan for your meals, be it eating at cafes or restaurants or simply stocking on basic food necessities from the supermarkets.
Purchase alcoholic beverages and soda at the airport for a lower price. Make sure to buy them before leaving the airport!

An Italian oasis located along the cliff side of Mediterranean Sea made up of five small towns all connected by a train. Well known for the beautiful views, rich history, delicious food & wine and stunning blue water to relax by. Make Cinque Terre your next weekend destination to explore.
Also if you are huge Disney Pixar fans, many of these towns helped inspire the movie Luca. Have fun exploring the cities to see what all you recognize from the movie.
Prior to visiting Cinque Terre, we didn't do much research into the area. We spent most of our time exploring and discovering along the way. This guide is to help share all of the information we gathered from our trip to help make your experience just as enjoyable.

A valley of characteristic villages, not washed by the sea, but characterized by a unique atmosphere.
The Itria Valley is located in the heart of Puglia, between the provinces of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto. You will immediately realize that you have arrived, because you will find yourself immersed among dry stone walls, centuries-old olive trees and... trulli! Yes, the Itria Valley is indeed the area of the trulli. It is no coincidence that one of its most famous villages is Alberobello.
But it is not just the trulli that make this area of Puglia unmissable: between one olive grove and another, villages with timeless charm alternate, the authentic atmosphere that transports visitors on a journey into the past.
It may be due to the white of the buildings, or the vegetation that frames them, but every town, every village in the valley is surrounded by a magical, almost fairy-tale atmosphere.
In this guide we will recommend experiences not to be missed and attractions to visit in the most picturesque villages in the area:
-Alberobello
-Locorotondo
-Ostuni
-Cisternino
-Grottaglie
-Martina Franca
