The South African Garden Route is a 300-kilometer stretch that rounds the coast of South Africa extending from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape. The route takes you on a journey where you consistently see mountains to one side and the Indian Ocean to the other. From incredible scenery to lush plant-life, to local stops along the way it’s the perfect international road-trip. In October 2022, my boyfriend and I took a roadtrip from George to Johannesburg to get his car back home. We thought we'd make the most of it and amble along the Garden Route for a few extra days. It was amazing, so I wanted to share some of it with you and add a few extra tidbits for those of you experiencing the places for the first time. It's recommended to go in spring or summer, but try to avoid holiday periods (December and January) as it can get super busy and sometimes pricey, unless you're going for a party haha. Enjoy!

South Africa is a multifaceted country filled with magical outdoor adventures that dreams are made of. In 2019, I made my first trip to South Africa. It had been a dream of mine to visit the rainbow nation since I was a child & SA didn’t dissappoint. I immediately fell in love with the country from the people to the landscapes I felt that I was suppose to be there. I remember traveling into Cape Town by car from the garden route for the first time, with the sun setting over the ocean & “Queen” on the radio I felt like this place was going to be home. This guide will take you on a journey along the coast from Cape Town to Johannesburg or (vice versa) visiting some of the finest luxury hotels & camps that have a conservation / sustainable ethos along the way. I’ve also featured some of the very best experiences this nation has to offer. From swimming with great white sharks to getting up close & personal with lions in Kruger national park. This country truly makes for unforgettable experiences. This itinerary can be from 2-4 weeks & is based on renting a car in Cape Town & dropping it off in Johannesburg (the most popular way to travel) as public transport is lacking here. There are other ways to travel from local flights to hop-on hop-off tourist buses that stop at the most famous sights if you can’t drive.

The information in this guide is the direct correlation of our roadtrip through Arizona from North to South. (If your route will be different, this guide may be more useful in map mode) If you've been looking for the best of Arizona, you have arrived.

The North Coast 500 is the magical route around the Highlands of Scotland. This journey begins in Inverness, known as the gateway to the Highlands. We will drive to the West coast of Scotland, with the opportunity to include the Isle of Skye if you have some extra time. Then, we drive clockwise along the coast, taking in waterfalls, lochs, beaches, and the rolling hills of Scotland. While driving the NC500, you will see the highlights of the route, with many opportunities for hikes, walks along the beach, and castles. As you drive you will be presented with scenic vistas of the rugged Scottish Highlands, whose views are known worldwide and are the real reason this route is so popular. You are encouraged to stop often at scenic points along the way to fully appreciate your surroundings. This guide will include a full itinerary for an 11 day trip. It can be cut down to 9 days if you remove the Isle of Skye. If you don't do all the activities, you could potentially cut down some more time, but I have tried to limit driving to under 3 hours a day. This guide also includes suggestions on where to stay and where to eat dinner for each night of the trip. Estimated budget of this trip based on 2 people sharing a room: Accommodation (usually including a full breakfast) at an average £130 a night = £1,300 Dinner at an average £40 pp = £800 Car rental c. £40 per day = £440 Fuel for c. 830 miles at 148.5p = £1,235 Other (entry prices, parking) = £200 Total = £3,975 The food budget in particular in subject to where you go and what you order. This also doesn't include prices for lunch. Accommodation prices could also be reduced by staying in hostels rather than hotels/ B&Bs. Car rental prices were found on Kayak comparable site - these are variable.

In October of 2022, we flew to Iowa to purchase our brand-new travel rig, a Ford F-350 Super Duty Lariat Tremor (follow its build and our adventures on Instagram @traveling_nobodys - end of shameless plug here). After a brief stop in Nebraska to visit family, we high-tailed it through the rest of the Cornhusker state and wound up in the Northeast corner of Colorado, which we deemed to be the beginning of the truck’s shakedown trip home. This was our first time driving through Colorado and we could not have asked for a better time to explore the state’s diverse landscapes, made even more spectacular with the kaleidoscope of fall colors that were on full display. Running from corner (NE) to corner (SW) this route only scratches the surface of what Colorado has to offer and we look forward to finding our way back there sooner rather than later.

This is a comprehensive guide with viewpoints, pit stops, and parking recommendation for your journey to Hana. It's definitely not as scary as people make it seem, and worth renting a car and driving by the coast yourself to take the necessary time. This guide follow Highway 360, so you are not taking the "backway". It is ideal to take at least 2 to 3 days to see and hike everything along the way. My guide to backpacking Central America is finally here! This guide is based on hundreds of hours of research, my own 4 month long trip, and some extras that I wasn't able to get to but would still highly recommend based on reviews from trusted friends! This guide serves as an essential list of the best attractions in each country and what not to miss! The route in the guide is laid out North to South, starting in Belize and ending in Panama, but it can also be used in reverse. The guide includes information for how to get between locations; however not in great detail as the schedules and prices change frequently and let's be honest, the busses are never on time in Central America! The best way to get between places depends on your timeline and budget of your trip: if you have months to explore, take the local "chicken busses" for a more affordable and immersive experience; if you only have weeks, take the more direct shuttles; and if you're tight on time, take the more direct and upscale coaches. Whichever option you choose, the locals are always willing to help with chicken busses, and shuttle busses and coaches are very easy to book throughout Central America at your hostel, any tour operator, or online. Where possible, I included accommodation recommendations for places that I personally stayed at and can vouch for, or know someone who did. In addition, there are links for booking hostels in each region! I hope this guide provides some help and inspiration to backpack Central America, it's one of my absolute favourite places on Earth!
