I've spent 6 months working in Thailand as a tour guide, so it's safe to say I know my way around the country. This guide contains my professional recommendations of the best temples, beaches, waterfalls, viewpoints, restaurants, and bars. I've even included my favorite hostels for each city. With this thorough guide (divided by each tourist hot-spot), you will feel like a local yourself.

Rotorua will welcome you with the smell of rotten eggs for which its nickname is also "Rottenrua". The sulphur smell is omnipresent here so you shouldn't mind that too much. The city and its surroundings have much to offer and you'll find yourself in a geothermal wonderland exploring otherworldly places and learn more about Maori culture.
I assembled a 3 day itinerary for you so that you can make the most of your visit to Rotorua. Each day includes hotel recommendations, places to eat, activities and places to relax.

A day to day itinerary with what to do and see, accommodation recommendations for every budget and travel style and spots to eat as well as hidden gems.
The roadtrip sarts in Queenstown and includes stops on the way to the West Coast and all the way up to Westport.
Explore the rugged and wild coastline, waterfalls and rainforest, glaciers, windswept beaches or a geological wonder reminding of a pancake stack. Find your own pounamu (greestone), go gold panning and discover mining relics.
The guide comes with an interactive map showing you all the places and is compatible with the phone so that you can have the guide always with you.
As the weather is unpredictable on the West Coast you can always decide whether to stay longer or shorter in one place. With my guide you won't be short on options.
Have a great roadtrip!

My comprehensive guide provides you with everything you need to know to spend some beautiful days on the Banks Peninsula. Due to its proximity to Christchurch, this is the perfect place for a weekend getaway (or longer).
It includes general information, recommendations on where to stay, the best places to eat, what to do and beautiful spots around the Peninsula.
I experienced it a as very relaxing and peaceful place, perfect to calm down but without getting bored, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Auckland's West Coast is often overlooked by travellers as you need a car to reach it and explore everything. When I visited, it exceeded my expectations and I fell in love with this rugged and wild coastline. The West Coast is part of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park and is home to stunning black sand beaches, lush rainforest with waterfalls, one of NZ's most popular surf beaches and a gannet colony.
It is not far from Auckland but you will feel like entering a completely different world. This remote and untamed region is more than worth a visit and will for sure casts its spell over you.
A magical place that you should not miss out on and that can also be explored on a day trip if you have a tight schedule.

The East Cape of New Zealand is a slow-paced remote and rugged coastal region known for its unspoiled beauty. It's home to stunning landscapes, with rolling hills, secluded beaches, and dramatic cliffs. The area is rich in Maori culture and offers a peaceful and tranquil escape, perfect for those looking for relaxation in nature and get away from the hustle and bustle.
As it is such a remote area, it is not much visited by travellers, especially international tourists. So if you're looking for an off the beaten track destination, this is the perfect place for you.
My guide shows you the most beautiful places to see, accommodation options as well as recommendations on where to eat and I've included some of my own pictures as well.
You'll find all the places on an interactive map that you can easily use on the phone and have it with you on your travels.

Not everyone can afford the Ritz Carlton, and not everyone wants to. We can safely say that our most memorable trips to Turks and Caicos were spent at cost-conscious hotels. They are easily a third of the cost of a larger resort. And there are quite a few budget friendly accommodation options. Check out some of our favorites!

The Maritimes is a region of Eastern Canada that's often forgotten, but it's a huge mistake! It's in my opinion the most peaceful part of Canada, with countless quaint fishing villages living to the rhythm of the ocean, thousands of kilometers of coastline with some of the most unique sights, and of course rich in seafood.
This guide covers 3 different provinces with my insights after spending over a month in the Maritimes guided by locals. This carefully curated list features 60+ places including hikes, sights, activities, restaurants and accommodations.
I suggest how long I would spend in each place, but this is a self-driving guide to fit your own travel pace, build your own adventure!

I've cruise to Alaska twice: My very first cruise was aboard Star Princess back in the year 2003, sailing from Seattle to Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan in Alaska with scenic cruising through Tracy Arm Fjord. This year, I had the opportunity to enjoy a similar itinerary with my sister aboard the Discovery Princess. We had a wonderful time and we also did some fun do-it-yourself (DIY) shore excursions!
Here are some helpful tips and information so you can make the most of your upcoming Alaska cruise adventure!

When you think picturesque fall leaves, Door County is what you should imagine! This county is located in the north eastern corner of the state. The best time of the year to visit is September and October. Small villages and quaint main streets wrapped around by nature's beauty, make this county a weekend getaway destination. It's about a five hour drive from the Twin Cities or a four hour drive from Chicago. Having a car or biking is a must!

We love cruises, but the shore excursions through the cruise line can be so expensive and often make you feel like cattle being herded into trailers. We prefer a slightly more personalized option, and many of the same trips can be organized on your own. If you have a smaller party finding your cruise roll call by searching for Facebook groups with your sailing dates is a great way to organize a small tour to bring costs per person down.
We love cruising for family vacations. It’s a great way for the whole family to have fun and feel relaxed (hey Kids Club!). It’s also great for larger groups or multi-generational trips. Everyone can do their own thing and connect where they want. We like to do dinner together and port excursions mostly together, and then once back onboard we kind of do our own things.
If you have a grandparent or co-traveler going with you connected staterooms is a great way to go. This gives you a little more space and the ability to coordinate and hang out within the same space, especially after kids go to bed. Individual doors can still be closed as needed, but you’ll need your key to reopen or go through a balcony.
