BANKS PENINSULA
Banks Peninsula
@sarahgeiger
The Banks Peninsula is just 1,5 hours drive from Christchurch and therefore the perfect place for a getaway from the city. The Peninsula is of volcanic origin and two prominent craters formed Lyttleton and Akaroa Harbours.
Day trips, 2 days, a long weekend or even longer. There is enough to be explored to fill some days. The Peninsula counts with innumerable bays and amazing landscape. This is truly a haven of relaxation to fill up on energy away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

AKAROA
Akaroa
@sarahgeiger
Akaroa is a small and cute French town on the Banks Peninsula with historic buildings and just about 700 inhabitants. It's very peaceful there and located right at the water. The shops and restaurants look all very nice and you can go for a walk along the bay and enjoy those beautiful views over the water and the mountain in the background.
There are a lot of holiday homes and in fact, the town felt a lot like vacation to me. I really loved it there.
The charming colonial cottages make for a nice stroll through the French town. This little township was the only French settlement in New Zealand.
