Seville Unmasked: Uncovering the Charms of Andalucia's Hidden Gem In this guide, I have included all the places I visited during my 2-day stay in Seville. I must admit that I was only able to see the exteriors of some places, not the interiors. Nonetheless, this experience has sparked my desire to return to Seville again. Without further ado, I hope this guide will be helpful in deciding which places you'd like to visit around Seville! Arriving at Seville

Seville Airport
@arisajapanguide
My battery was running low, so I looked for a socket, which was, fortunately, easier to find than in Barcelona Airport. I left the airport to find the bus stop when the percentage was sufficient. When you exit the airport and head to your right, there is a ticket machine. Purchase your ticket, then wait for the bus to arrive. I rode the EA line from Aeropuerto de Sevilla (Llegadas) to Marque de Paradas, which was only a minute away from my hostel. When alighting the bus, you will need to push the blue button to alert the driver that you’re getting off at your stop.

Seville was only a two-hour flight by Vueling from Barcelona. My flight was at 7 a.m., so I arrived early at Seville airport. I dropped my luggage off when I arrived at the hostel and headed to the Puente de Triana Bridge.

Places to See or Visit

Puente de Triana
@arisajapanguide
Imagine yourself strolling along the enchanting streets of this charming city, and there stands the Puente de Triana Bridge. As you approach, the magnificent view of the river takes your breath away. The bridge offers a mesmerizing sight as people gently row their boats beneath it while a graceful sightseeing ship glides under the arches to the other side. From this point, you can see Torre del Oro and the Maestranza Bullring.

Mercado de Triana
@arisajapanguide
A visit to the Mercado de Triana in the morning might be worthwhile. There are many shops or stalls in this tiny market. Since most of the stores are closed, I had mushroom quiche (quiche de setas) at "Obrador La Osa." I happened to hear the culinary demonstration next to Obrador La Osa when I was dining, and I thought it sounded like fun. Although there isn't much to see, this is an excellent opportunity to experience the spirit of Seville.

Seville Museum of Fine Arts
@arisajapanguide
The museum houses a collection of works by Spanish artists, most of which are religious paintings and sculptures. I enjoyed spending time in the Seville Museum of Fine Arts admiring the collections there because it was on my schedule. The employee asked me where I was from while I was paying, and I replied that I was from the Philippines. The identical question was posed to me by another member of staff, who struggled to find words in Tagalog, leaving me confused as to what he was about to say!

Casa de Pilatos
@arisajapanguide
Casa de Pilatos is one of the most essential historical residential properties in Seville. It features beautiful gardens, courtyards, and ornate interiors, making it a significant cultural and architectural landmark. I chose to look from the outside rather than enter the building. But it is definitely one of the must-visit places.

Palacio de las Dueñas
@arisajapanguide
Another impressive palace in Seville, it boasts a stunning mix of sophisticated architectural styles and beautifully landscaped gardens. Even with the time restrictions on my travel plans, this was one of the places I would have liked to explore inside. Two days are definitely not enough to explore Seville.

Setas de Sevilla
@arisajapanguide
Metropol Parasol (Las Setas) A modern architectural wonder, the Metropol Parasol, affectionately known as "Las Setas" (the mushrooms), is a large wooden structure located in the heart of Seville. It comprises six parasol-like mushroom-shaped canopies that provide shade to visitors and house an archaeological museum. From above and below, a magnificent light display may be viewed at night. There is a fee that comes with experiencing the Aurora from above.

Catedral de Sevilla
@arisajapanguide
One of the most renowned Gothic cathedrals in the world, the Catedral de Sevilla is an iconic symbol of Seville. It features impressive architecture, intricate stained glass windows, and the tomb of Christopher Columbus. The cathedral's bell tower, La Giralda, offers breathtaking city views. This is one of the most visited places in Seville. Finding the entrance is a little challenging for someone like me who always struggles to read map directions because I kept traveling in circles while seeking the entrance sign. I printed out my ticket, which has a map to help guests find the entry, and the personnel was friendly enough to assist me in finding it.

La Giralda
@arisajapanguide
La Giralda is now the bell tower of the Catedral de Sevilla. Visitors can climb to the top for panoramic views of Seville. It takes a lot of effort to climb the ramps because of their different angles. I pause now and then to gaze out the tower's windows. Once you get to the 35th floor, you will have reached the tower's peak. As you take in the Cathedral's surroundings, the resounding bells fill the air with a captivating melody.

Plaza España
@arisajapanguide
Plaza Espanya is an impressive semi-circular square adorned with colorful tiles representing different Spanish provinces. The square is surrounded by a canal and bridges, making it a must-visit destination for tourists. Unfortunately, I was only able to spend a short amount of time there because there was a nighttime event. The view of the entire plaza was blocked by the stage. At six o'clock in the evening, they locked the doors and refused to let anyone in. The Plaza was closed to the public, which disappointed many tourists who had planned to visit.

Royal Alcázar of Seville
@arisajapanguide
A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Royal Alcázar is a stunning palace complex that boasts a unique blend of architectural styles. It served as a residence for various rulers throughout history and remains a well-preserved attraction. Inside, you can see a collection of abanicos, paipays - traditional fans made from different kinds of feathers and materials. The small museum on the upper floor displays the influence of Islamic culture on medieval Europe. The enormous garden would be my favorite feature. You have a lot of choices to make and paths to take, making it feel like a maze where you never know what surprises are in store for you. Speaking of surprises, several visitors, including myself, were sprayed by water sprinklers that turn on at a certain time. Considering that I went during the summer and we were in the blazing sun, it was quite pleasant. The Royal Alcazar is worth spending a lot of time in.
