What people say

"The Cathedral of Seville is the largest Gothic temple in the world and the third largest in Christianity after St. Peter's in the Vatican and St. Paul's in London. Construction began in 1403 on the site of the old main mosque in Seville, an Almohad work of which the Patio de los Naranjos and the Giralda remain. After the Christian conquest, the temple took the form that we see today, mixing different architectural styles: Gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance, Mozarabic... although the Gothic style predominates. We can access the courtyard through the Puerta del Perdón, its decoration is Renaissance plasterwork, with Almohad Kufic inscriptions. The courtyard preserved its complete structure until 1618, when the chapel of the tabernacle was built on the west side. The Cathedral is made up of five naves, the highest of which is the main one, at 36 m, and the side naves reach 26 m. The maximum height is reached in the transept and is 40 m. The transept was built in the 15th century and collapsed in 1511, being restored between 1888-1893, together with the execution of the new dome. The Cathedral of Seville, with its sober beauty and mystical atmosphere, fascinates the thousands of tourists who visit it every year. Among the most impressive features of the Cathedral we find the stained glass windows and the high vaulted ceilings that can be visited (covered), full of drawings and Gothic architecture; the imposing Gothic vaults; the enchantment of the Patio de los Naranjos; the unique Biblioteca Colombina; the bell tower; the chapels full of works of art, together with an excellent iconography that includes paintings, sculptures, stained glass windows and delicate goldsmithing make a visit to the Cathedral an essential event in Seville."

" To avoid waiting in line (sometimes for a few hours!), I strongly advice you to buy skip the line tickets in advance online. There are several kinds of visits available: A standard skip the line ticket to visit the cathedral and the Giralda. A 90min guided tour of the monument + Giralda. The Seville City pass: The best option if you also want to visit the Alcazar of Seville. With it, you can also take the hop-on hop-off tourist bus, which stops in front of every attraction of the city. It’s very convenient! Another option that doesn’t require any early booking is to go first to the “Iglesia Colegial San Salvadore” (“Church of the Divine Saviour” in English). It’s located 10min walking from the cathedral and opens at 11:00. There, you can buy a combined ticket that includes the cathedral. You’ll be able to skip the whole line and enjoy your visit of the Seville cathedral without waiting!"
"A masterpiece of Gothic architecture and a testament to the city's rich history, Seville Cathedral is one of the largest and most magnificent churches in the world. Built on the site of a former mosque, it combines stunning medieval Gothic design with elements of Mudéjar, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. The cathedral houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus and features the Giralda, a majestic bell tower originally constructed as a minaret. Visitors are captivated by the intricate details of the altarpieces, the grandeur of the Royal Chapel, and the tranquil beauty of its courtyards. The Seville Cathedral is not only a religious sanctuary but also a symbol of the cultural and historical fusion that defines Seville."
