Rome THE Guide 🇮🇹✨
ROME
✨ Step into Rome, a city like no other. The Eternal City buzzes with energy, a living museum full of markets, trattorias, and cozy bars. Everywhere you turn, history is right there, yet the city feels alive, as if time itself slows down just to let you take it all in. Lose yourself in its timeless beauty — wander through ancient ruins, savor the rich flavors of Italian cuisine, and soak in the endless energy of its people. ✨
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
🗓️ Best Time to Visit
Rome is a year-round destination, however, the best temperatures are in spring (Apr–Jun) and fall (Sep–Nov). Try avoiding summers, when is particularly hot and most of the country is on holiday.
⏰ How Long to Stay
I recommend at least 3 days in the city to dive in and explore it without any rush, but a longer stay is never a bad idea.
💬 Language
Italian, but most people speak some level of English, especially in touristic areas.
💰 Currency and Payments
The Euro (€) is the official currency, you can get cash from local ATMs upon arrival for tips and smaller purchases in local shops. Credit Cards are accepted as well, AMEX is accepted in some hotels and shops but not everywhere, so make sure to bring a Visa or MasterCard.
🤝🏻 Local Etiquette
Don’t forget to say “Buongiorno” (Good morning) and “Grazie” (Thank you) in shops and restaurants, and be mindful of dress codes for churches (generally, covered shoulders and knees).
💲 Tipping
Tips are not expected in restaurants (most restaurants in Europe include the service on the bill) but you can leave 5-15€ for your private driver, maid, bellboy, tour guide etc.
✈️ How To Get There
▪️ GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CITY: Taxis are available at a flat rate of 55€, however, the waiting time can be long. I recommend either taking a private transfer or the Leonardo Express, a 30-min train to Roma Termini, the city’s main train station.
▪️ GET FROM THE CRUISE PORT TO THE CITY: Taxis are around 130-180€, you can also take a private transfer, the last would be my recco.
🚕 Moving Around
Here are some helpful resources to book trains and private transfers.

- Upgrades
- Resort credits
- VIP status
- Early check-ins & late check-outs
& more !
🚨Booking directly on the links below WON'T add the perks, make sure to reach out to me directly if you want to benefit from them.🚨

PRIVATE EXCURSIONS
WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK
▪️ Should you make diner reservations?. Yes!
▪️ When? It depends on each restaurant, but for fine dining, I would say, at least 1 month in advance (if not more).
▪️ Should you book every lunch/dinner? I suggest booking most diners and maybe some lunches, but leaving some room for spontaneity is always nice (specially for lunch)
HOW TO MAKE RESERVATIONS
▪️ You can book directly on the restaurant websites, if not available, you can use an app like OpenTable or TheFork.
▪️ If the restaurant requires you to make a call, remember:
- There's English-speaking staff in most restaurants
- If you can't call internationally, you can try on WhatsApp or Rebtel
- You can ask your hotel's concierge for help
- If you book your trip with me, I'll call for you!

TRAVEL ESSENTIALS
🔌 CHARGERS
If you're visiting from the USA, Latin America, or a non-EU country you will need a plug adapter (Type C) and possibly a voltage converter if your devices are NOT dual voltage, Europe uses 220-240 Volts.
Is your device dual voltage? Check your charger, if you see:
👉🏼 110-120 V - This won't work in Europe, you might need a voltage converter. (Common examples: Most hair tools)
👉🏼 110-240 V (or similar) - You only need a plug adapter. (Common examples: Most smartphones, laptops, airpods, cameras)
👉🏼 220-240 V - This will work you only need a plug adapter.
🚨 American Dyson Airwaps / Shark Stylers do not work in Europe, I repeat, they DO NOT work in Europe, not even with a voltage converter so don't bring them.
💻 ELECTRONICS
▪️ If your hair tools are not dual voltage, I recommend you to better purchase one that is. (You can find my favorites on my Europe Travel Essentials Guide).
▪️ Throw an air tag on your bag so you can track it in case of a delay or if it gets lost.
▪️ Don't forget to bring a portable charger!
▪️ A portable luggage scale can help you avoid paying for extra weight.
🧳 PACKING
▪️ Bring an umbrella or rain jacket (especially in winter)
▪️ Stay organized with high-quality packing cubes.
▪️ Always pack 1-2 outfits on your carry-on in case your bags get lost or delayed (better safe than sorry!)
▪️ Bring a reusable water bottle, more specifically, a thermic one. Very handy to stay hydrated in the summer months!
📲 COMMUNICATION
▪️ If you don't want to pay roaming fees, you can get cheap internet for your trip with an eSIM. My favorite is Nomad - Get 7 USD off using my code: FERNMNYULW
▪️ Download WhatsApp, you can message/call using wifi/internet only and most suppliers (like tour operators, and excursion guides) might use this app to communicate with you.
