Ćevapi is a traditional Balkan dish, originating from the areas surrounding Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. The dish is considered a staple in a majority of the countries' cuisine in the Balkan Peninsula--sparking a huge debate about which country has the best ćevapi! During my time spent in the Balkans, I created a personal ranking of places with the tastiest ćevapi, which I am sharing with you below!

Ever since finishing university 3 years ago, I have been full time travelling and volunteering for conservation projects. I absolutely love my lifestyle however can't lie tight budget is one of the downsides. Instead of giving up my travel dreams I just decided to become resourceful and find the perfect itineraries that still fit my tight budget and let me explore the world. Before every trip, I spend weeks planning and researching and it's one of my favourite parts of the adventure. However, I know it can be overwhelming and tedious at times so I decided to share my research and my itinerary with you. All places mentioned here are places where I have been/stayed/eaten myself and can give you an honest review.
In this guide, you'll find an itinerary through the Balkans meant to take you through 6 countries throughout 26 days following my footsteps. I'll share with you my recommendations of where to stay and what to do as well as a detailed outline of the full cost (accommodation and transport). You'll also find links to the accommodations I stayed in and all the bus/train companies I used. You'll also find a spreadsheet so you can adjust the itinerary to your own needs.
What you'll get in this guide
✔️Itinerary through Balkans for 26 days
✔️Budget for the whole trip for accommodation and transport (updated November 23)
✔️Recommendations of budget accommodation in each location
✔️Recommendations of activities in each location
✔️Researched public transport connections between each location
✔️Ideas of day trips from the location (with budget expectations)
✔️Tips on how to get discounts on booking.com and flixbus (including a discount code)
What you won't find in this guide
✖️Detailed day-to-day plan
✖️Budget for food during the trip as they will vary vastly depending on your personal preferences
✖️Food and restaurant recommendations
*I did the trip with a friend so the itinerary is mostly applicable for 2 people because accommodations recommendations are double/twin rooms. But if you're traveling with different number of people of course you can still use the guide you just need to find a different accomodation

Sometimes, the best travel experiences are the ones you don’t plan for. I recently found myself in Sarajevo, a city I hadn’t originally intended to visit, and I was completely enchanted by its charm. Sarajevo isn’t just a city; it’s a living history book, brimming with tales of triumph and turmoil. This crossroads of civilizations has seen it all, from Ottoman grandeur to 20th-century struggles. You can’t walk its streets without feeling the weight of its past.
• The 1914 Assassination: Sarajevo made headlines worldwide when Gavrilo Princip’s fateful shot at Archduke Franz Ferdinand set off World War I. It’s a defining moment etched into the city’s story.
• Ottoman Legacy: Stroll through Sarajevo and you’ll see the influence of the Ottomans in its mosques, old bazaars, and unique blend of cultures. It’s a city that wears its history on its sleeve.
• The 1990s Siege: The city’s scars from the Bosnian War are still visible, but so is its spirit of recovery. The resilience and hope in Sarajevo’s ongoing rebuild reflect its unbreakable character. Sarajevo is buzzing with excitement for its future.
The city is embracing growth and modernization while retaining its warm, welcoming spirit. With new businesses, cultural events, and vibrant community life, Sarajevo is evolving into a must-visit destination. The local people are incredibly friendly, making every visitor feel at home. As Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to develop, Sarajevo stands as a beacon of optimism and charm, promising an enriching experience for everyone who comes to explore.

This was my second time visiting Croatia but my first time visiting Dubrovnik. I loved it so much and can't wait to go back hopefully very soon! Croatia will always have a special place in my heart because it's where we got engaged on July 22nd, 2022!
Croatia is like Italy's second cousin-- it shares the same maritime border, the Adriatic Sea, has a heavy influence of truffles in its cuisine, and celebrates dolce far niente (the sweetness of doing nothing). For our quick 72-hour trip, we basked in the sun, read good books, got a couples massage, and swam in the sea as many times as we could!
Croatia was once part of the Roman Republic and, much later in history, part of Yugoslavia. It has a brutal history of war specifically its most recent civil war resulting in its independence from Yugoslavia which took place from 1991 to 1995. This rich but tragic history has shaped Croatians and their culture into what it is today.
Many locations across Dubrovnik and Split were used for filming the hit TV show, Game of Thrones. There are lots of tours offered to see the various locations but you certainly don't have to be a Game of Thrones fanatic to visit Dubrovnik, Croatia. We didn't meet one Croatian who had watched the show themselves just like ourselves.
Croatia has over 1000 islands with crystal clear water and pebbly beaches for a fraction of the price compared to its neighbors. It's what initially drew me to visit this country along the Balkan peninsula. Here's everything we did throughout our 3-day trip in Dubrovnik plus a few additional recommendations.

It is impossible to think about Campania, Italy without thinking about- you guessed it- pizza. Did you know, however, that Naples is not the only place to get a great pizzza? Over the past few years, the Caserta Province has made it's way into the hearts-and stomachs- of many a pizza lover. I've built this guide to show you some of my 'go to' spots when I want una bella pizza.
My guide is perfect for pizza lovers - those who want to go for a classic traditional pizza, gourmet style, or maybe want to go all out and go for a tasting menu that includes a wine tasting.
This guide is divided into two sections- Caserta (near the city center) and the outskirts (pizzerias located in the Caserta Province)
My guide includes
- 🛣️maps
- 💻links to the pizzerias
- ⌚days/hours of operations
- 📲links to posts about my visits
-🤙 my reccomendations and suggestions
- 🎤audio links
This is a living breathing guide; meaning that it will be updated often.
- 🛣️mappe
- 💻link alle pizzerie
- ⌚giorni/orari di operatività
- 📲link ai post sulle mie visite
-🤙 i miei consigli e suggerimenti

Want to have a good time in Bucharest?
Have your check-in done 🛎️, sip a coffee, shop around and taste the busy life of the Romanian capital city - you’ll find this guide bursting with cool places, fancy restaurants and clubs 🪩 where you can go wearing all the pretty little things your money could buy (bespoke included - see below). You'll see that Romanians know how to party better!
Highlights:
👚 Ia - the traditional Romanian blouse is more than just a piece of clothing; it is a national symbol, a story and a history book. Ia has a simple cut, and is usually white and made of hemp, flax cotton or silk, over which geometrical or floral motifs are embroidered in colored threads.Motifs differ from one region to another. The used ornaments, colors and materials represented a social mark, age, marital status, religious affiliation and place of origin within the country.
🧆 Mititei/mici - (both Romanian words meaning "little ones", "small ones") is a dish from the Romanian cuisine, consisting of grilled ground meat rolls in cylindrical shape made from a mixture of pork/beef/lamb with spices such as garlic, black pepper, thyme, coriander, anise, savory, and sometimes a touch of paprika; often served with french fries, mustard and pickled vegetables.

• No tener dinero te impide viajar.
