Brussels exceeded my expectations in every way when I visited for the first time in 2023. The perfect love child of France and the Netherlands, combining the french and beneluxian charm, architecture & way of life.
With only 24 hours under my belt, I'm no expert to the city but here are some of my tipps to add to your Brussels bucket list. Have so much fun!

I KNOW this is a hot take, and I swear I love Germany with all my heart, but Belgium has the best beer hands down. Not to mention the frites (fries), the chocolate, and the waffles. I have been to many a European city and my tastebuds were happiest in Belgium by far. As an ode to the country (and hopefully as a way to convince you to add Belgium to your next trip), I've created this guide of some of my favorite bars & restaurants I tried throughout the country!
For my plant-based besties out there: Many of these places offer vegan options. Some of them are 100% vegetarian or vegan, or have a separate menu catering to those diets. I always struggle when traveling to places with very meat-heavy traditional cuisine because I want to participate in the culture while honoring my diet. Belgium was one of the BEST countries when it came to catering to my needs. Not only did they offer plant-based food, I was able to find plant-based versions of the traditional food (this is really hard sometimes!). You can enjoy the local flavor guilt-free!
This guide includes places in Brussels, Ghent, & Antwerp.
Belgium is one of my favorite countries. If you'd like a personalized guide to Belgium or want to chat about your upcoming European adventure, check out my travel services! Interested in visiting Brussels but eager to get away from overly touristy places? Antwerp's the place for you, baby. Flemish people love this authentic gem and often go for day trips to shop and get inspired by its rich history and culinary hotspots. In this itinerary I've bundled when to go, where to go, and how to go. Carefully curated for you by a local. This city trip skips overrated tourist traps and lays out a step-by-step weekend like the locals.
🚉✈️ How long is this trip?
This itinerary is based on a three-day weekend, assuming you'll arrive on Friday evening and depart on Sunday. You can absolutely adapt this plan to a two-day stay, just make sure to read the advice I provide with my recommendations. This way you're in on best times for different activities.
🅰️ Why Antwerp?
- historic port city with rich history
- hotspot for gastronomic delights and lavish art
- like Brussels, but without the tourist traps
- home to one of the world's leading fashion academies and the internationally renowned Fashion Museum
- authentic Flemish (European) experience
- safe city (check out advice for female solo travelers below)

This is the exact guide I used for my first trip to London with my now wife. London was our first stop on a 2-week Eurotrip across London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Berlin. My wife and I still talk about this trip even years later. The memories we made are truly unforgettable.
I was fortunate enough to be friends with multiple people who have lived and currently live in London to help create this itinerary.
What's included in the 4-Day Itinerary:
*Daily breakdown of activities and travel instructions
*Hotel and Neighborhood Suggestions
*Key Sights to See for First Timers as well as booking tips
*Sample London Pub Crawl
*Restaurant and Food Recommendations

If you're looking for a city escape to live your European Summer dream, you've come to the right place! This is my 100% honest opinion of my 10 favorite European cities to visit in Summer.
I see lots and lots of guides out there suggesting Paris (hello, has someone heard of the Olympic Games taking place?), Madrid (if you love 45° weather I guess) or Lisbon (great choice if you want to be 1 or 100 000 tourists). While these are all great destinations year-round, I don't think Summer is the right season to visit them. Personally, I'd go there in Spring or Autumn, not during the high season.
Full disclosure, this is a no Greece, no Italy guide. You'll only find cities that I love, and I think are worth going to discover if you're looking for a short city-escape this Summer.

This map is not organized by destination; it spans Europe from my solo backpacking trip in the summer of 2023. I have carefully selected my favorite hostels from that trip, based on cleanliness, location, comfort, social aspects, price, and shared spaces. For reference, I visited over 30 cities on this trip, so the top 7 are pretty elite.
