24 hours in Brussels 🇧🇪

Lena Müller
Brussels exceeded my expectations in every way when I visited for the first time in 2023. The perfect love child of France and the Netherlands, combining the french and beneluxian charm, architecture & way of life. With only 24 hours under my belt, I'm no expert to the city but here are some of my tipps to add to your Brussels bucket list. Have so much fun!

How to get to Brussels 🚂

I recommend taking the train to Brussels. There are good and fast connections from the Netherlands (ns.nl), France (Eurostar, former Thalys) and Germany (Deutsche Bahn) that are very affordable, especially if you book in advance.

How to enjoy the city ✨

Léopold Café Royal
@thegoodlandbeyond
We had a lovely brunch here on Sunday morning and sat outside in the sunshine. If you come early enough, you should not have problems finding a table. The food and coffee were really good and we did not feel rushed at all to eat up and leave. 10/10 recommend ✨

Café Des Minimes.
@thegoodlandbeyond
We sat here for two hours, drank Aperól Spritz, ate cheese and fries and enjoyed life to the fullest. The restaurant is located near Palais de Justice but sits in a quiet little side street. This might have been my favorite part of the trip.

Grand Place
@thegoodlandbeyond
It is a crowded and by definition "touristy" part of town but the building architecture is incredible so you should definitely walk by. I would personally avoid the restaurants and cafés as they are usually very expensive and don't deliver the best quality.

Palais de Justice
@thegoodlandbeyond
This place is amazing, it's a viewpoint over the whole city and the ferris wheel is right around the corner. We ran into a little peaceful day rave and had a beer which was very fun.

Rue de Rollebeek
@thegoodlandbeyond
This street and whole area is beautiful all day but especially at the end of the day during sunset and on those long summer nights when people are sitting outside enjoying a nice dinner and some drinks.

Pois Chiche
@thegoodlandbeyond
Oriental food that's very good and affordable. It is a more casual lunch or dinner spot where you order inside and find a table.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lena Müller
Welcome to my travel shop. 👋🏻 I'm Lena, originally from Germany but have called California, Mallorca (Spain), and Chile temporary homes over the years. When I don't travel, I like to spend my time with landscape photography, digital product design, baking, and drinking overpriced coffee. My goal here on Thatch is to offer you more than travel guidance. I'm dedicated to bringing value to your future trips by sharing my carefully curated itineraries, expert tips, and, most importantly, the priceless locals' perspective. Why should you work with me? Because I've lived it. I've walked the cobblestone streets of Valldemossa, Spain, set out to find the best cardamom bun in Copenhagen, and hiked the W-Trek in Torres del Paine, Patagonia. Because I've made mistakes, taken detours, and found hidden gems. I've learned from every step of my journey, and I'm here to share those lessons with you. Love, Lena P.S. I'm looking forward to the trip and can confidently say that my expectations have already been exceeded. " - Anastasiia "Lena's guide is organized, easy to navigate, and informative. We never questioned where our next place to stay was or where to grab a bite to eat. The guide was well thought out and took the pressure off the logistics, so we could focus on having a good time. I highly encourage others to use her guide if you plan on taking a trip to Europe." - Sue "The Portugal/ Spain trip could not have been planned any more perfectly for two old guys like Stuart and I who have no travel experience at all. Every place you picked for us was magnificent. I am sure no one else would have put such love, care and attention to detail for such a trip." - Arthur
