It's a day to savor Brazilian cuisine, wander through a quaint neighborhood with fantastic viewpoints, and relish the sea breeze at the beach. Nestled between marvelous mountains and sparkling shores, Rio de Janeiro City, or simply Rio, beckons with its unparalleled beauty and pulsating energy.
Its captivating landscapes, from iconic beaches like Copacabana and Ipanema to the majestic peaks of Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain, form the backdrop to a city teeming with life and culture.
Steeped in history and infused with a dynamic mix of influences, Rio is a melting pot of traditions, rhythms, and flavors that captivate the soul. Samba, chorinho, and MPB (and Brazilian Funk Music) will fill your ears while delicious local food fills your mouth.
In this guide, you'll find recommendations to fill up at least 4 days of your visit. Here, the focus is more on the not-so-well-advertised experiences because, for the "big" attractions, you can easily find recommendations anywhere.

Paraty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, nestled in Brazil's stunning Costa Verde. This charming colonial town boasts cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and lush tropical surroundings - and it's my favorite town in Rio de Janeiro.
In the late 17th century, Paraty marked the endpoint of the Gold Route, through which gold was shipped to Europe. Its port was crucial for importing tools and African slaves for the mines. The town built a defense system to protect its wealth.
Today, Paraty's historic center preserves its 18th-century layout and colonial architecture, offering a glimpse into its rich past spanning the 18th and early 19th centuries.
With its rich history, vibrant culture, and picturesque coastline, Paraty offers visitors a unique blend of historical exploration, outdoor adventure, and relaxation by the sea.
Explore its well-preserved architecture, embark on boat tours to nearby islands, or simply unwind on its pristine beaches – Paraty promises a memorable experience for all.
In this guide, you'll find recommendations to fill up at least 4 days of your visit, including logistics, accommodations, dining, and of course, you can contact me if you need a personalized itinerary
Have fun!

Italian espresso is all over Milan and no longer consumed only in bars, but also in markets, railway stations, bookshops and boutiques. Very good espresso is available all over the center of the city and so too is Starbucks as of 2018.
3rd wave coffee is slow to arrive in Milan as the city is saturated with really good espresso which always costs less than 1.50 euros.
If you’re interested in old-school roasters, really good espresso and 3rd wave spots, this is the Thatch board for you.
