Iguazú falls, Wild Nature
Protagonist: the falls
The first contact between Europeans and the Guaraní, the original inhabitants of the area, was in the year 1542 when Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, on his trip to Asunción, encountered the falls. I would love to have seen the explorer's face when he first saw this wonder of nature.
The name "Iguazú" comes from the Guaraní or Tupí words "y" [ɨ], which means "water", and "ûasú" [waˈsu], which means "big". So they are literally the big waters, and boy are they.
The Iguazú Falls, which are made up of 275 falls up to 80 meters high, of which 80% are on the Argentine side.
UNESCO declared Iguazú National Park as a “World Heritage Site” in 1984 and since 2011 it has been considered one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of the World.”
Ladies and gentlemen, with you the protagonists: the Iguazú Falls.
