Free Rio

Grab a beer or a caipirinha with your friends, and climb up the Arpoador rock, aka Arpex, to enjoy the sunset behind Dois Irmãos mountains and live a breath taking moment.

This trail is my favorite in town. The previous day, check the weather & sunrise timing and go and climb to get there to enjoy the show. Bring a torche (your phone is enough) and get ready to climb 35-40min in the dark. I promise you one of the best sunrise you’ve ever see. You can do as Brazilian and bring your own coffee and breakfast to enjoy on top. This one is almost free, as you will need 10R$ cash to pay the moto taxi who will take you from the bottom of Vidigal’s Favela (Praca Nemeiyer) , 10R$ for the way back ( you can easily do it walking 20/30min if you want to see more of the main Avenue of Vidigal ) , and 10R$ to help the community (that will be asked on your way at the begging or end of the trail) - so less than 5€/$

Located in Catete, the maze is a lovely getaway in Rio’s heart, where you can go and get lost on between a morning at a outdoor market & grab an Açai at 11am.

The market has street food, flea area & samba. The perfect Sunday morning.
