If you're visiting the city for a quick trip, or are in Auckland for a few days at the start / end of your New Zealand vacation, here are some recommendations on what to do in Auckland! This includes our input on where to stay, where to eat, and activities in the city and day tours to do. This mini-guide has enough for a few days to up to one week of activities!

Finding accomodation can be tricky, is it near public transport, is it in a good area? I will take that hassle out for you and recommend the best accomodation in the area.

We made it a long day and didn't get to visit all the spots we wanted to, so even better would be to spend the night on the island and have 2 days there! We focused on wineries and food, but there are beaches and other activities as well.

Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand! This travel itinerary includes a detailed 5 day itinerary for a city that holds such a special place in my heart! After living here for a year, Auckland quickly grew to be one of my favorite cities + I'm so excited to be able to share this guide with you. Geared towards first timers visiting New Zealand, who will have an extended period of time in Auckland - this one will hit all the main must-see's and to do's, but will also make sure you get a good experience of local kiwi culture.

This itinerary outlines nine days of continuous adventure on the North Island of New Zealand. Spend a couple days exploring Auckland and the nearby islands, head out west for some black sand beaches and secret coves, hit up some insane hiking trails, and head to the east coast for some stunning beaches that draw the local crowds all summer. This itinerary is partially in hotels, but most of it is geared towards campervanning or rooftop tenting it through the North Island (that's what we did & LOVED it). It also includes a few hours of driving a day, and quite a few hiking opportunities (of course these can be substituted for other activities in the area). If you don't want to drive as much you could always spread the activities over more days, or skip your least favourite part to spend more time in the other areas ... but good luck trying to choose! Each day outlines activities to fill your day, how much driving, what to eat, where to stay, and other suggestions / information.
