My Hotel/Hostel Recommendations Around the World

My Hotel/Hostel Recommendations Around the World

Here you will find all the hotels/hostels/homestays that I've stayed at around the world. My recommendations are honest, so I only listed those that I really liked and would stay at again. You can find them for each country in an alphabetical order to make searching easier for you and recommendations are everything from low-budget to 5 star hotels. As I'm always travelling, I will keep adding new places to this list. Please note: Creating these guides takes up quite some time so if you like one of my recommended accommodations, it would really help me if you'd book through my link as I'll receive a small commission. The price will stay the same for you, it only helps me to be able to provide more free content in the future. So it's a win-win for both of us and I'd be very grateful for your support!🙂

I highly recommend the "La Casita Naranja" hostel. The warm and welcoming atmosphere made it the place where I felt most comfortable in Patagonia. In the common area there is also a huge hiking map with an overview of all the travel times between the individual huts, which is very helpful for planning your hiking route.

Brisbane

Summer House Backpackers Brisbane
@sarahgeiger
It was a really nice hostel and I felt very comfortable there. They offered a free pasta night, free BBQ on Fridays on the rooftop terrace, free pancakes on Sundays, movie nights with free popcorn and other hostel activities. Apart from that they do have free daily breakfast (cereals, cornflakes, toast, peanut butter and different jams). The kitchen was too small for so many people though. Great location as it's just a ten minute walk from the Roma Street Transit Center where the busses stop and close to the William Jolly Bridge that lead to South Brisbane.

The hostel is always super clean, the communal kitchen is very spacious and there is a swimming pool. The hostel also offered a lighthouse sunrise tour twice a week (also for free).

One of the best and most beautiful hostels I have ever stayed at! The architecture and design of the hostel is very stylish and beautiful boasting an amazing patio with swimming pool, swinging sofas, sun loungers, a work station area, onsite restaurant, living room area with huge screen to play your movies, a modern and fully equipped kitchen and a yoga deck. Apart from dorms, there are also private rooms. This is by no means hostel standard but deserves a hotel-star rating. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and greets you with a welcome drink before your luggage is being brought to your room. The atmosphere is super relaxed and absolutely great for hanging out and enjoying this beautiful place. There's loads of offers for activities and tours and staff is happy to assist with anything you need. Kuta

Celebbest Kuta
@sarahgeiger
I'm listing this hostel because if you're on a very tight budget, this is the cheapest option. It's in a quiet location with nice garden and swimming pool and a short walk from the beach and the main road. Just a short drive to the airport, making it very convenient if you need a place to stay before your flight or if you arrive late to Bali. All-you-can-eat pancakes in the morning. The hostel is ok, rooms are quite poorly lit, there's no AC, just fans and in general, especially the bathrooms could do with a renovation. Wifi does not reach the dorm rooms. Beds are comfy though and staff is super friendly, social and helpful. Apart from dorms there are also private rooms which seem a bit better than the shared ones.

Each bed also has a small fan and reading lights. Jake and his wife are the most lovely hosts you can imagine and happy to chat and socialize as well as give recommendations and help you with anything you need. The bathroom and the hostel in general is immaculately clean and it's just a 5 minute walk from Pudu Sentral bus station where you can get a bus straight to the airport. Would come back here any time!

GEORGE TOWN

The 60
@sarahgeiger
This is a great option if you're on a budget. From the outside the hostel doesn't look so nice but the inside is much better. The common area has tables and chairs, lots of information about the island, a book shelf to swap books and a pool table. The dorms were spacious enough with ensuite-bathroom (there are more bathrooms in the hall as well), the beds have curtains for more privacy, a power outlet and a small lamp. Location is right opposite of the pier, just a 10 minute walk from the ferry and just meters from George Town's famous street art and one of the world's best street food.

The hostel was great! As soon as we arrived we were immediately welcomed by Mark the hostel owner who is English and permanently lives in Phitsanulok. Him and the other hostel guests, made us feel being part of the "hostel family". His wife was also around and they took us to the local night market, showing us around. They are very welcoming and happy to organize trips or give you recommendations. The small rooftop terrace is a perfect place to hang out in a hammock and get to know the other travellers.

Hideaway Island & Marine Sanctuary Resort
@sarahgeiger
The Hideaway Island Resort is located on Mele Island, just a few minutes ride from Port Vila. It’s a marine sanctuary and amazing for snoekling! The free ferry to the island just takes 3-4 minutes and runs 24 hours. If you stay overnight, water sports equipment is free of charge. Every morning they offered a breakfast buffet which is also included in the price. They have a nice lounge next to the reception, a swimming pool and a restaurant with bar. Though, the meals are overpriced in my opinion. It’s a small island with just the resort on it. When we arrived we were welcomed with a drink and our beds were nicely made and decorated with flowers. If you're travelling on a budget, they also offer shared rooms.

Very basic and rustic accommodation but the location is beyond fantastic! Great place for a local and authentic experience with views on the active Yasur volcano. You can see it glowing at night. Breakfast is complementary and you can also enjoy the other meals while watching the volcano from the terrace. It feels like being in Jurrasic Park, sitting in the middle of the jungle. Views are more than spectacular but like I said, it is very rustic so you shouldn't mind not having western amenities.

I not only LOVE to organize my own travels but also help others make travelling and especially planning easier. Below you can find some facts about me to get to know me a little better 😊 🌏 I'm backpacking solo around the world since 2017, exploring new places and cultures. I love to travel off the beaten path as I think this is the best way to experience local life and discover places away from mass tourism. 🗻 I've lived in New Zealand for 2,5 years, exploring this beautiful country in my van and I've also lived in Australia and Uruguay for one year each. 🥥 I always try to spend as much time as possible in one country to be able to explore it thoroughly. The first thing I usually do is wandering the streets to get a feel for the place, visiting local markets and also trying all the food. 🏞️🏝️ I love the outdoors, hiking, chasing waterfalls, driving around with the scooter, scuba diving and snorkeling.
