This guide is a full itinerary for a road trip from North to South in Albania. It will start with basic info you should know for traveling within Albania such as visa info, currency, safety, weather, pharmacy, etc. It will cover everything you should do and see as well as where to stay and eat in each place. It will also include alternative ideas for each place and things we didn't get to reach. Throughout this guide I will cover Theth (a mountain paradise) Durres (a laid back beach town) Berat (a UNESCO world heritage city) and surrounding wineries Himare (an incredible town on the Albanian Riviera) Ksamil (the Southern tip of the Albanian Riviera & across from Corfu Greece) Tirana (the capital city of Albania) Dhermi ( a town we didn't make it to that I wish we did) I will also create mini guides for each of these locations in case you're not spending that much time in Albania and want to hit specific places. Albania is my recent discovery, I spent the entire June 2023 in the country and happy to share all my findings and information about this beautiful destination, based on my personal experiences and local insights. It's one of these countries you have to visit now before it becomes a popular expensive mainstream.

This is a backpacking guide for hiking a variant of the Peaks of the Balkans (POB) trail in 7-13 days through Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo. This route includes all the highlights of the POB trail and adds some exclusive side tours with some of the most majestic landscapes not part of the official POB loop. This guide provides a flexible itinerary dividing the loop up into 3 sections, with each section providing options for extra side trips (highest mountain of Kosovo and highest of the Albanian Alps, Grebaje valley). While its neighbor Croatia gets a lot of attention among world travelers, Montenegro is a personal favorite of the places I've traveled to over the years! My husband and I were looking at places to go for our anniversary one day, hoping for a mix of what we both love when we travel.
