Each year, million of tourists visit Venice and the vast majority of them will pay too much to eat mediocre food in tourist-traps. Luckily Venice also has a lot of (hidden) great restaurants and most importantly 'Bacari', which is their version of a Spanish Tapas bar. Bacari usually serve a variety of small colourful, budget-friendly dishes which change continuously based on the season (some actually change hour by hour). These small dishes are called 'cicchetti' and are meant to be the perfect companion to a glass of wine or a Spritz. Think of these Bacari as your local neighbourhood bar, and be ready to bend elbow to elbow with the locals. Here are my favorite places to eat, drink, snack and stay in Venice!

Ravenna is a city on the East coast of Italy, a couple of hours south of Venice: it's known as the Capital of Mosaics, a form of art that developed while the city was capital of the Roman Empire and later on during the Byzantine era. The 8 UNESCO heritage sites should be enough to convince you to go visit, but in case they aren't here's 5 reasons why you should:
1. It's CHEAPER than bigger cities like Venice, Florence or Rome, but that doesn't mean it's not as beautiful
2. Staying in a smaller city doesn't mean you won't be able to visit anything else: in fact Ravenna is very WELL CONNECTED by the railway system to multiple major destinations
3. Are you a SEA or MOUNTAIN person? Don't worry, Ravenna has both: 20 minutes east are its beaches, famous for their beach volleyball tournaments, while in the opposite direction you will find the Apennines!
4. Like anywhere else in Italy FOOD isn't the issue: lasagna, cappelletti, "bolognese" sauce, etc. are originally of Emilia Romagna, the region where Ravenna is found
5. Is Italy not enough for you? Apart from being close to Bologna's AIRPORT, Ravenna has also FERRIES that will take you to the Balkans region in no time!

Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is a beautiful city built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges.** It's often called the "Venice of the North" due to its picturesque waterways and charming architecture. With a population of around 1.6 million, Stockholm is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a rich history and culture.
The city's Old Town, Gamla Stan, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval city centers in Europe.** It's a maze of narrow cobblestone streets lined with colorful buildings, shops, and restaurants. Other popular attractions include the Royal Palace, the Vasa Museum, and the Djurgården island park.
Stockholm is also known for its stunning archipelago, which consists of thousands of islands and islets.** It's a popular destination for boating, swimming, and hiking. The city's vibrant music scene, world-class museums, and innovative design industry make it a cultural hub in Scandinavia.

A curated yet comprehensive collection of my favorite addresses in Milan after living here.
Travelers tend to skip over Milan because it’s not as charming on the surface as classic Italian cities such as Rome and Venice. Milan is a place that slowly reveals itself if you know just where to go to discover its hidden beauty. With the right addresses in hand, delve beneath Milan’s exterior and explore the city’s many highlights beyond Gucci and the iconic Duomo.
This guide includes:
🚋 Milan travel essentials including helpful logistics and transportation trips
🏩 Places to stay | luxury, boutique, and budget options
🍽️ Places to eat | a mix of casual and elevated spots for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
🖼️ Things to do | shops, sights, museums/galleries beyond the Duomo and Galleria
🚗 Day trip ideas
The only Milan guide you’ll need whether it’s for a quick day trip or an extended stay for fashion week.
Each handpicked recommendation includes a description with insights based on personal experience and insider travel industry intel. Check the guide or use the interactive map to look through my curated recommendations. It’s mobile-friendly and easy to use on the go.

It is probably my favorite country in the world, with its beautiful architecture, quaint little towns, endless aesthetic shops, millions of bikes, and some of the best treats out there (looking at you Stroop waffles, Poffertjes, and Tony's Chocolate 🧡).
This is a small guide to Amsterdam with some of my favorite places around the "Venice of the North", including:
