This guide is for both Islands in New Zealand (the north and the south) for first time visitors who are taking their camper van throughout the islands with a few days in Auckland and Queenstown. It's a three week itinerary and includes the arrival and departure flight days (and has some suggestions for these days as well). It will go through (in detail!) every location we visited, the activities we did, the sites we camped up at, the restaurants we ate at (in between our camper van meals), what we learned about New Zealand and the camper van life whilst we were there, and other suggestions of what to do in the areas so you can alter your plans to fit what you want. Note that this itinerary includes two different camper van rental locations on each island, and flying between the two islands. But you could easily do the majority of this itinerary and just switch up a few days to drive between the two islands! This itinerary does have a decent amount of driving but its because we really wanted to PACK our itinerary to see as much of New Zealand and it's beautiful scenery whilst we were here. Akko (also known as Acre in English and Akka in Arabic) is somehow overlooked by many tourists coming to Israel. It's one of the most historic and scenic towns in the whole country. The city embodies a melange of Arab and Jewish culture that is unique to Northern Israel. And the hummus is some of the best in the country. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Akko dates back almost 5,000 years prior as a Phoenician city on the coast. Today, Akko's character is most known as the predominatant stronghold of the Crusaders between 1100 and 1300. The city was briefly reconquered by Salah ad-Din (aka Saladin) before the Crusaders regained control during the Third Crusade - a control that lasted until 1291 when Akko was the last city to be conquered by the Muslim rulers. In later years, Akko served as a major port city. Napoleon attempted to conquer the city but failed miserably (this happening after his forces barely took control of Jaffa further south). In the 1890's, Akko became the home of Baha'u'llah, an imprisoned missionary who founded the Bahai faith. He spent his last days in Akko until his death; he is buried outside of the city (not open to the public) and the town remains a key pilgrimage site for those of the Bahai faith. Since the foundation of Israel (or the Nakba by Palestinian views) the town of Akko has become one of the most mixed cities in Israel, with 32 percent of the town being Arab (mostly in the old city). Much of your visit will allow you to see the various cultural fabrics that make up the beautiful city of Akko!

The island of Kauai may be small, but it has a lot packed into it. Quieter and more laid back, this island offers some prime relaxation, some great natural beauty, and a variety of unique spots to eat. I have visited Ireland at least once a year of my 27 years and in more recent years, I have opted to fly in through Dublin because the flights are significantly cheaper and way more frequent than to Shannon. As a result, I tend to have a day or two in Dublin on either end of my trip to see friends, family, and the wonderful city of Dublin! I had all my Dublin recommendations in various Notes on my phone for the longest time. Since we're getting married in Ireland in May 2024, I thought it was as good a time as ever to compile all my recommendations and some other people's recommendations (thank you Kenzie, Shannon and Greg) into one Local-ish Guide to Dublin for our guests traveling to Ireland. Dublin is Ireland's capital and largest city on the island's east coast. The River Liffey (or the Sniffy Liffey as my Auntie Sandy calls it) runs right through the center of the city dividing it into Northside and Southside, and out to Dublin Bay which feeds into the Irish Sea. Dublin, which translates to "black pool" in Irish, was founded just south of the Liffey by the Vikings in 841. Ever since Dublin has endured a turbulent history but has prevailed and been shaped into the 21st-century city it is today. Maui has a lot on offer for first timers. To me, Maui is more of a "resort" based island, is very family friendly, has some great, unique activities and it's own take on Hawaiian cuisine. Don't forget the banana bread! You could easily spend a week exploring. I think of Maui from a geographical standpoint and there are 4 key areas to explore: Kaanapali in the north west, Kihei in the south west, Hana in the north east, and Kahului/Haleakala in the middle. The first two are more centralized with hotels/places to stay and the other 2 are easy day trips. 4-5 days is ideal for exploring Maui for the first time!
