Riverdale 1898 is the most charming farm stay and stands as my favourite accomodation in Albany!
So gorgeously decorated, everything is enveloped in blissful tranquility and luxury. โจ
The accomodation offers a peaceful retreat, only a 20 minute to drive from the main city. Easily located to reach Albanyโs most beautiful beaches and for strolls along the Luke Pen Walk, this is a prime destination.
The host, Helen is absolutely lovely and goes above and beyond for all her guests. Upon entry, she had a freshly baked raisin loaf waiting for us with a personalised note written on a beautiful postcard. ๐
With a stunning view of the Kalgan River, this beautiful abode is nestled on the Riverdale Farm where youโll be able to spot their cows within the property. ๐ฎ Just outside of the perimeter I spotted a family of kangaroos right from the small balcony.

Purchase a small bouquet to make your own day or someone elseโs. ๐
Cosy and beautiful. ๐
Recently opened and gorgeously decorated with plants and full of character. This cafe calls for those in search of a vibrant ambiance and food that warms the heart.
It is a lovely brunch spot to sit for a pleasant atmosphere, adding a homey touch with couches to lounge in or coffee tables if you prefer more standard dining.
The menu is filled with Italian-influenced dishes with tantalising flavours. ๐
I ordered the Calabrese eggs and my company ordered the Burrata Breakfast - which is the cafeโs own take on the standard โBig Breakfastโ in other cafes.
Swing by for a wonderful morning or afternoon with scrumptious bites. โจ
Great to have lunch and a coffee if you want something easy and delicious.
On my third trip to Albany, after I'd climbed Bluff Knoll for a second time, I distinctly remember ordering their chicken parmigiana with a glass of cold juice for a hearty lunch. (See โฐ๏ธ Adventuring #1 Bluff Knoll for more information!)
After the exertion it was all I needed to satisfy the hunger cravings for classic pub food ๐๐ฝ๏ธ
Good vibes and good food, there isnโt much else that you need if you just want somewhere for a nice bite before you go off exploring the city.
A gorgeously decorated place for dinner and drinks with a beautiful vibe. A place with expertly-crafted fusion cuisine and though slightly pricier, the food they serve (or at least what Iโd ordered) was all delicious. โจ
Liberte is nestled on a corner within a beautiful building. Exuding the charm of a refurbished old-fashioned building transformed into a bar and restaurant, featuring a distinctive vibe. Upon entering, you will be greeted with the bar and a few intimate tables directly across it. This is primarily for walk-ins due to itโs limited space. If you are travelling during the busy times, you may need to either wait for a table or the best option is if you make a reservation online. ๐น
If you have a reserved table, the staff will lead you to a second area beyond the bar area which is where the magic happens. Theyโll take you just past the bar behind into a larger secluded dining space.
The interior is stunning with a chandelier paired with lanterns on the ceiling, and uniquely styled with vintage chairs and tables. The mood lighting accentuates the choice of furniture and personally I think is one of the most charming places in Albany with its own personality. ๐ฝ๏ธ
Itโs a restaurant with a menu constructed mainly for sharing, so order a variety of dishes and share the delight.
I ordered the loaded fries with beef brisket, topped with generous amounts of beef, chilli, coriander and sauce. This is a large share plate for two worth every bite and was a stand-out.
The chicken crispy bao was a winner, where the bao bun was warm with flavourful siracha mayo, hoisin sauce and slaw. A fusion dish done right! Concluding the meal on a high note,
I enjoyed a profiterole with Vietnamese coffee ice cream and chocolate ganache, topped with hazelnut and pistachios. Perfect way to finish the meal. This dish comes with three profiteroles with a generous serving ideal for sharing. ๐ญ
Liberte boasts an impressive drinks menu, and you will be spoilt for choice. From your old fashions to your cocktail favourites with a spin on them. Or if youโre one for simple pleasures, enjoy a beer or sip your favourite wines while you take in the ambience.
I make it a point to come here each time I visit, donโt miss it!
A stunning restaurant sitting at the crown of a hill where you can gander at all the beauty that is Albany, especially in the heart of the night.
Romantic and scenic, this place will capture your heart as well as it captures the beauty of the landscape. ๐
As soon as you enter, youโll be greeted with a stunning bar before being shown to your seats. I ordered their special which was beautifully cooked oysters three different ways introducing a touch of Aboriginal flavours. For mains, a perfectly cooked steak with fries and lamb served on a bed of mash potatoes - our best choices for the evening.
Spoil yourself with one of their cocktails and enjoy the atmosphere as you dine. ๐ธ
With delicious dishes painted with a kiss of originality, this is an Albany gem.๐ธ
Feeling fancy? Dress up in your best outfit and bask in the ambience of the quaint French restaurant Majuba Bistro in the heart of the city. ๐
Beautifully decorated interior boasting a gorgeous bar, the restaurant is lit with a moody atmosphere. As soon as I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by a lovely waitress who was attentive and bright.
My company and I ordered a beef carpaccio, the lamb shank main, and finished up with an affogato with frangelico (a liqueur) for dessert. Each dish was absolutely amazing, and the beef carpaccio as a starter was delicious as an entree. The lamb shank was a huge portion, and come with a very flavourful gravy and the lamb shank was perfectly tender and fell off bone. The affogato came presented in a lovely three-piece set where you pour the espresso and liqueur on top of the ice cream as you like. With the meals, I enjoyed a glass of La Vielle Ferne Rose while my company enjoyed a glass of Rockcliffe White. ๐ท
The menu is on the pricier side, but if you are willing to spend a little extra, the food will be worth it and the service will be brilliant (At least on the night that I dined here). Although, I did pay a lot more than I would have liked for an additional scoop of vanilla ice cream for the affogato.
The reviews boasts excellent reviews of the food and service, and I would recommend making a reservation prior to coming. I was here on a long weekend, and it was expected to be busy. I made a call for a reservation the day of and managed to get an early 5:30pm slot. ๐ฅ
The restaurant has upstairs seating as well! Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to see what it looked like. However, the first floor of the restaurant with the bar was simply stunning.
Book a table and enjoy the vibe!
Hearty and warm!
Due South is situated right by the waterfront with beautiful views of the Princess Royal Harbour. โจ
Tuck right into their mouthwatering chilli mussels, or dig into their steaks and split a pizza. Pair your meal with a drink from their bar with their extensive wines unless you prefer to go classic and grab a beer. ๐บ
I loved their fried chicken side while enjoying a steak sandwich for lunch after coming down from a hike at Bluff Knoll. (See โฐ๏ธ Adventuring #1 Bluff Knoll for more information!) Nothing like a big meal after climbing a mountain.
Come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner - you wonโt be disappointed!
Absolutely unmissable with breathtaking views.
Bluff Knoll is one of the peaks in the Stirling Range National Park being 1095m above sea level. โฐ๏ธ
When youโre down in Albany, this is a must-do hike for everyone. Depending on the hiker that you are - begin the hike as early as 4am for sunrise, or on a beautiful morning to soak in the sunshine. No matter if youโre an afternoon type of person either, and enjoy the warmth of the late morning and afternoon sun. Just donโt forget to bring your sunscreen. โ๏ธ
It is an approximate 3 to 4 hour round-trip spanning over a 6.8km return. You may spot some little reptiles skittering across here and there particularly in the heat of summer!
For winter trekkers, you might get lucky and experience a bit of snow, though many people hike in the early dawn across all seasons to catch the sunrise at the top. I know groups of friends who began as early as 4 in the morning. If you do so, make sure youโre thoroughly prepared with headlamps, proper footwear and appropriate clothing. As it will be almost pitch black on your way up, even with torches I recommend giving yourself a little more time to hike the mountain. If youโre wanting to catch the sunrise, make sure you plan your timing depending on which season you plan to do it in.
If youโre beginning in the morning when the sun's up, lace up your shoes and enjoy expansive views all the way to the top. Itโs a well paved hike equipped with steps all along your way up. Some of the steps can get a quite steep around some areas, so do watch your step and take regular breaks if you need it. If you have hiking poles, I would recommend bringing them just in case. Iโve seen hikers come down the mountain using large branches for support. ๐ฅพ
Lo and behold, the peak of the mountain. Where you can soak in all of the fruits of your hard work as you gaze out over the expansive horizon, if itโs a clear day with no clouds. On other days, you may be sitting above the clouds! Where the clouds roll over the horizon like a soft blanket and you feel like youโre on top of the world. Regardless, itโs a mesmerising sight. However, on some days the clouds may permeate the space like a fog. On these days, your view at the peak will be obscured. ๐ค๏ธ
Another thing to note is that the weather there can change quickly! I climbed this mountain twice within a span of 2 weeks. The first time I had hiked to the peak, I was rewarded with gorgeous views with a clear sky, seeing the rolling hills and farmland. However there was a biting chill in the air and I couldnโt stay at the top for too long before climbing down. The second time I had reached, I was lucky enough to have the same amazing view. But this time there was no wind at all, and was feeling the heat from the climb up. I was able to hang around the top for a little longer to explore the top and capture more photos.
Even if youโre not up for a climb at the crack of dawn, I would recommend climbing early morning no later than 9am, so you can make your way back down by midday for a hearty lunch. As it bleeds into the afternoon, the heat of the afternoon sun can be quite harsh particularly in summer. However during the other seasons, it will be more bearable.
The drive to Bluff Knoll offers its own charm, with the chance of spotting emus and other wildlife along the way. ๐ฆ
An absolute adventure to reconnect with nature, youโll gain a memory of a lifetime!
The Castle Rock and Granite Skywalk is a unique experience you cannot miss when adventuring in this region, located in Porongurup National Park and is a 45 minute drive up north from Albany.
The Castle Rock trail leads hikers to the gorgeous Granite Skywalk, and is a 4.4 kilometre trail (round trip). Be careful around the steep sections of the path and uneven paving!
Come across and discover stunning flora and fauna as you make your way to the summit of Castle Rock, before beginning the climb along the steel structure of the Granite Skywalk, spanning the length of 1.5 kilometres. This winds around the granite dome, providing amazing views of the countryside. ๐ฒ๐ชจ
Give yourselves approximately three hours to complete, noting this will vary amongst climbers with varying fitness . Ensure you dress appropriately with secure footwear and lots of water, particularly in the heat of summer!
With two gorgeous lookouts across the farmland, you will feel the thrill as look view the vast expanse of land stretching out in front of you like a painting. There is the lower and upper platforms for a picturesque view. ๐
This isnโt one to be missed!
When visiting Albany, this is a must-see desitnation. The Albany Windfarm is an impressive expanse where the greenery meets the sea.
Waves crashing on the rock cliffs from afar make for gorgeous pictures as the wind courses through the air at high speeds. ๐
Dominating the coastline are giant turbines standing at 100m tall, and is a sight you wonโt tire of. There is a clear trail from the parking lot that takes you through to see the turbines up close and personal. Continuing along the path leads to panoramic views of the expansive ocean, offering a marvellous view of blue waters and pristine white sands from a high vantage point. ๐
You will come across a long staircase that leads from the top all the way to Sandpatch beach at the bottom. The multitude of steps from the top to the beach are generally fine, but the climb back up will get your heart pumping and your calves burning.
The stairs were originally crafted from wood and added a gorgeous, picturesque touch to the landscape. However, they recently underwent a renovation of the stairs to a metal structure due to the weathering damage on the wooden staircase that was originally there.
Personally, the wooden staircase holds a special place in my heart, complimented the scenery stunningly with its own personal charm. However, the new stairs provide much more safety and stability for visitors.
The beach below attracts fishing enthusiasts. I saw many by the shore casting lines hoping to nab a catch, so be sure to bring your gear if youโd like to fish by the beach on a relaxing day. ๐ฃ
One of Albanyโs key spots is The Gap and Natural Bridge. Located within Torndirrup National Park this phenomenon boasts stunning natural wonders created by the wind and waves of the beautiful Southern Ocean. ๐
It is accessible to all with beautifully paved pathways equipped with ramps that lead to the viewing platform over the cliff. There is a parking lot available right by the viewing platform, however during peak seasons it can get very busy. Donโt forget to pay the parking fee if you choose to park there. ๐
Capture stunning photos and enjoy the sea breeze, and make sure to hold onto your phones as it can get very windy up top.
If you do walk off the platform onto the rock faces, please be extra careful youโre not putting yourself in unnecessary danger. โ ๏ธ
Definitely not one to be missed!
This is a bit of a hidden gem nestled quietly on a gorgeous walk amongst the bushland.
The Point King Lighthouse ruins makes for an interesting exploration and unique photos, and requires a comfortable walk to reach it.๐ถ
Park your car at the start of the trail and begin the walk, note that there is no designated carpark. We ended up parking on the dirt in front of the entrance to the trail which wasnโt an issue.
Youโll be led between the bush and trees on a paved path where youโre able to view the shoreline from a higher vantage point. Its a beautiful and relaxing walk, where youโre able to take in the waves and the greenery.
As you progress further, youโll come across a few points of interest and some great photo spots. ๐ธ
Continue along the path and youโll soon find a smaller trail that will lead you to the cottage ruins.
Youโre able to walk inside the ruins, and while it is small it exudes a lot of charm. Just be careful to not leave any litter or traces that you were there to protect the space. ๐
Go down to the rocks where the ruins are situated on and take in the waves. I had spotted an individual who made himself comfortable fishing in that area. ๐ฃ
I watched as the waves smashed against the rocks with captivating strength and it was lovely to just sit by the rocks and watch the water without many others around. Be cautious you donโt go too far down to the edge of the rocks where it can get very dangerous.
Recharge and rest while listening to the wind and waves with this low-key activity.
The National ANZAC Centre situated next to the Garrison Restaurant and Bar is one to visit.
Upon purchasing tickets, visitors are invited to step into the shoes of real service men or women to trace their journey from recruitment, training, life on the ship to the conflict of the war. As you navigate through the different sections of the museum, you will unravel the narrative of whether they survived and their life after the war. ๐๏ธ
Discovering their life and learning about the history of the war on a deeply personal and connected level in this interactive way, brings a touch of individual uniqueness to enhance your experience in the museum.
Gaze upon historical artefacts and pay tribute at the Pool of Reflection showing the names of over 41,000 Australians and New Zealand soldiers.
The ANZAC Centre adeptly captures the emotional resonance of the war's history, grounding visitors in the experiences of those who come from these lands.
For a little bit of history, Albany was once well known as a whaling town before operations shut down in 1978.
Now transformed into a popular tourist destination for whale watching, Albanyโs Historic Whaling Station located on the Southern Coast of King George Sound encompasses the whaling times of the town. ๐ณ๏ธ

Located less than an hour away from the town of Albany, it is a stunning place awaiting exploration. ๐
Visit the infamous Elephant Rocks and Elephant Cove, a picturesque isolated beach sheltered between the large rocks on either side, garnering its name. You can access the rocks from high above and marvel at the sight, or take the stairs down to the cove and slip between the two rocks opening up to the gorgeous cove for a swim. ๐ชจ
Greens Pool is equally stunning, boasting an expanse of white sand and sits right next to Elephant Rocks.

When the sky is clear and the sun is high, the waters are a magnificent colour where you canโt help but go for a dive.
Despite not a cloud in sight when I last visited in March 2024 (my first visit here was in 2021!), the water was colder than expected as we swam around. However, it was pleasant to warm up and dry off in the warmth of the sun when we rested on the shores. โ๏ธ
Greens Pool is a beach youโll remember forever and want to come back to over and over again!
The Valley of the Giants boasts two stunning attractions in the same place.
๐บ Ancient Empire Walk

๐ Places to Stay - Denmark
Denmark has an absolutely stunning array of treehouses that you can book via Airbnb or more affordable stays on booking.com.
These treehouse abodes have a beautiful charm tucked away in the tall trees of Denmark. Lose yourself to the nature and immerse yourself in a romantic getaway or a tight knit retreat with friends and family.
I stayed two nights in treehouse #1 ย listed below where it was nothing short of serene and beautiful with a friendly host.
Check out some of the amazing stays below and read their amazing reviews!ย
A gorgeous abode full of personality where the images do not do it justice.
Situated in between two big Karri trees, it is cosy yet spacious. The house is further surrounded by granite boulders that the host has artfully incorporated into the build, with one of the granite boulders built into and becoming part of the interior. ๐ชจ
As soon as you step into open living space itโs nothing short of gorgeous. It is especially peaceful to step out onto the spacious deck in the early morning breeze, listen out for birds and simply enjoy the serenity before the world fully wakes up. ๐ณ
The kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials and more, and I had an amazing time cooking breakfast and eating at the dining space one morning. The bathroom also includes a double bath with spa and there is a washing machine and dryer for longer stays. ๐
The rear of the house is locked and off-limits, and we noticed that space is connected to an extension of the house. At the time that I stayed there, the host Michael happened to be there too working on another treehouse and spent his night there in the rear of the property. We got to meet him and say hello, but usually he wonโt be seen around. The place is lovely and very private, all the while being close to key sightseeing locations for your explorations during the day.
itโs a beautiful space to spend a romantic getaway. However, this guest house is able to host up to 4 people if youโd like to stay here with your family or with a few friends. Do note the price per night increases if there is more than 2 guests, but children under 3 are free.
The main bedroom is spacious with a nice bed and situated up half a flight of stars. But just something to note is that apart from the main bedroom, the second sleeping area is situated on a loft accessible via a ladder to go up and down. Please be aware this may not be very safe for people with mobility issues and young children. If using the above loft, do be careful going up and down at night. ๐
While there is a 3-night minimum stay, contact Michael to discuss if there is a possibility for a 2-night stay dependent on availability.

Unique and charming with a beautiful architectural kiss.
Marvel at the large tree trunks artfully built into this beautiful accomodation. Surrounded by beautiful karri trees and granite boulders (much like #1 The Tree House, Denmark), it offers a private and comfortably secluded aura while being only 3 kilometres away from the town.
Complete with a beautiful balcony to take in the morning air amidst the trees, the gorgeous floor to ceiling windows brings about natural light and air, the picture of serenity as you listen to the song of the birds. ๐ฆ
The place comes equipped with a full kitchen if youโd like to cook a meal, and features a beautiful bath and shower with a boulder integrated into the wall for a distinctive touch. ๐
Particularly stunning at night, cosy in for a romantic evening as the sun dips low and the lights and fireplace fill the abode with a warm glow. ๐น
While it does have have a premium price, the experience and exceptional offerings is worth the spend if its within your budget.
Things to note: there are deep stairs and uneven grounds outdoors, and is an adult stay only. However, if youโd like to bring your pets with you that can be arranged with lovely hosts on requirements. The hosts reside in the above floor, but the accomodation is private with its own entry. ๐

An enchanting getaway nestled in the arms of the forest.
Awake to the soothing sound of nature surrounded with beautiful singing birds. Paired with a lovely fireplace adding a warm glow, this is the perfect place for relaxation and to connect with nature. ๐
Secluded and private, youโll immerse yourself in natureโs tranquility and enjoy bush walks in the surroundings. While you feel like you are tucked deep in the forest, youโre only just a kilometre from the town of Denmark and all it has to offer. ๐ฑ
There is the option of a spacious Chalet for a couple, or a two-bedroom Chalet if youโve got a larger party of three or four. A top tip I would leave with you is to explore both Albany and Denmark together if you have the time.ย
Both has its own magical feel and located so close together, it's the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in all they have to offer!
My absolute favourites are the National Parks and the gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous accomodations in this area.ย
This isn't an extensive list and there is more to do - Go and explore hole-in-the-wall restaurants and shops and get swept away in the small town charm.ย
๐I've lived in Western Australia for over 16 years when I lucky enough to move here as a kid, and I made sure to take the opportunity to eat my way through the best brunch places in town, hike to beautiful waterfalls and travel extensively along WA's most gorgeous south. With New Zealand so close, I've jumped into exploring the South Island as much as I could. ๐๏ธ
My favourite activities when I go to a new place is by connecting with nature as much as I can, and of course complete with thrilling adventures! I continue to chase after sunsets, climb mountains and swim in oceans not only in Australia but across the seas with meticulously planned itineraries filled with must-do's. I am also as ready as ever to throw myself from a plane and paraglide through the air - or speed down a hill on a skyline luge at top speed! ๐ช
Never passing up the opportunity for a good eat, eating your way through the best feeds in a new place is an adventure on its own. ๐
๐ Having been on countless road trips along WA's south to experience glittering beaches and white sand, eat tantalisingly delectable food and live in mesmerising views and stays, I am here to help you do the same and indulge in the magic of Western Australia.
I take my road trip outside of WA and along New Zealand, enchanted by the impossibly blue lakes, hike to a glacier and take a helicopter to the snow-capped mountains. ๐
My passion lies in the outdoors, chasing the most beautiful sights around. So join me, and I'll show you around!
