When you head north from Reykjavík, it doesn't take long to leave the Capital Region and enter West Iceland. The city immediately feels very far away. Over the past few years, Iceland has been getting more and more popular by tourists. Nicknamed the Land of Fire and Ice because of its many volcanoes and glaciers, there are endless opportunities of gorgeous natural wonders to explore. Over 60% of the people that live in Iceland, live in the capital city of Reykjavik. If you are not renting a car to avoid the intimidation of the slippery roads during winter, all of the activities below can be done right in Reykjavik or by a tour with transfer. I’ve gone ahead and provided all the links you need for each tour that I have personally done myself just this year (2022). Have a wonderful time exploring Iceland. 🇮🇸

I first visited Iceland 3 years ago after getting an internship out of nowhere. And since then I been coming back year after year discovering the country more and falling in love even deeper. Iceland is the crazy combination of fire and ice, pure nature, crazy landscape and unbelievably welcoming people. Friends and family always asked me for recommendations and like that, I eventually came to make this 4-day itinerary that I'd like to share with you. It's perfect if you are on a tight schedule but still want to make the most out of it The itinerary is with renting a camper or a car in mind. You can either choose a budget version with camping or be more comfortable with apartments on the way. For example, if you were to travel with a friend the cheapest option would be renting 4x4 and camping with your own tents. I was way too excited to give up this great opportunity, however, my student budget was not too happy about the costs. I very quickly discovered that Iceland is as expensive as they say but I also discovered it can be explored on a low budget. In this guide, I'll share with you how you can plan your Iceland trip, on a budget and without a car. From where to stay, how to move around and what to see. If you choose the most basic option (camping and hitchhiking) you can expect 30€ a day. If you prefer hostels and public transport or bus tours you can expect anything from 40 to 150€ a day. The sun rose around 9 am, with sun down around 4pm. Bear this in mind when travelling if you don’t like driving in the dark.
