3-DAY ICELAND ITINERARY
TRAVEL
Wherever you're traveling from, find the best flight that works for you in regards to timing and price. I flew Alaska Airlines, who is partnered with Iceland Air, and had no complaints. Everything was on time and a smooth flight from takeoff to landing.
Pro Tip: Iceland Air offers free extended layovers in Iceland if you want to tack on Iceland to a trip you already have planned if you're heading over to Europe!
When you land, you'll go through customs, which was quick for me since I took a redeye flight and landed early in the morning. In terms of traveling to your hotel or Airbnb, you have a few options: taxi, rental car, or bus.
Since I was trying to maximize my time, I took a taxi direct to the hotel. It's the most expensive option, but I didn't want to wait a couple of hours to wait for the next scheduled bus. You can also plan ahead and book a rental car, but I would do the math to see if it's worth it. There will be a long line to get your rental car, and renting a car can also be very expensive for the daily fee.
Another thing to consider is where you stay -- if you stay close to in town (such as the place I recommend below), there may not be parking for the car. Depending on your plans, reach out to your accommodation before hand to see what's available.
