I personally think Vancouver Island in itself is the hidden gem of Canada, so if you're planning a trip to explore the beautiful Island, you're in for a treat!
Born and raised here, I've travelled up and down the island many times to explore, hike, camp, chase waterfalls, eat, drink and be merry. I have put together a list of everything you shouldn't miss while exploring this gorgeous island! I have personally been to all these places and would absolutely recommend. I hope you enjoy!
A total of 40+ things on this map: Restaurants, beaches, hikes, breweries, shopping, things to see and do to help you fall in love with Vancouver Island.
I would personally recommend about 10 - 20 days to fully immerse yourself on the Island. This will ensure you don't have to drive for hours on end every single day and ensures you have ample time to explore everything and even have a bit of relaxation time in there.

Sharing my personal list of 200 local spots in over 23 Kootenay communities! The Kootenay region is a haven for anyone seeking recreation and relaxation, who wants something a tad quieter than Banff and Canmore. Located just West of the Southern Canadian Rockies, the Kootenays have charming small towns, jaw-dropping landscapes, friendly people, a relaxed energy and more trails than one could possible explore in a lifetime.
As a local who lives here, and has travelled throughout the East and West Kootenays, there are so many incredible places/things/spots/shops in this region that deserve the same hype as their Alberta mountain town neighbours. The Kootenay's are just as cool (but quieter and more affordable)!
Included in my list of 200 favourite local Kootenay spots, you'll find..
- Local Coffee Shops
- Local Shops & Specialty Stores
- Local Accommodations
- Local Restaurants & Cafes
- Local activities, trails and must see's*
⭐️ = My #1 must see in the community!
Everywhere listed in the guide is a place I have personally been, or a place that I have on my list to visit as quickly as possible (but that I know other locals visit and love).
* All the trails, activities and recreation recommendations are beginner/family friendly, no multi-day or difficult hikes here. If you're really into a specific sport, this guide will really help shape the rest of your trip to the area outside of your hike/ride/skiing.
The Kootenays are a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, active families and nature lovers - an incredible destination to explore for all.

Romania is such a beautiful country and it offers so much: the Carpathian mountains, the Black Sea, the Danube Delta, vibrant cities, untouched countryside, castles, medieval cities, fortresses and the list could go on.
As someone who lived in Romania for 18 years and who now lives in NYC, I realized that most people only think of Bucharest and maybe Dracula's Castle when they think of Romania. And unfortunately that's not even scratching the surface of what this incredible country has to offer.
I created this guide to show you all the locations you need to explore so you can plan an epic trip to Romania. The guide is divided into the following categories:
- How to get to Romania
- How to travel inside Romania
- Cities
- Castles
- Lakes
- Scenic roads
- Waterfalls
- Salt mines
- Danube
- Scenic train rides
- Fortresses
- Churches and monasteries
- Roman and Dacian history
- Thermal water spas
- Black Sea resort towns
- Caves
- Other
I hope you visit Romania soon and enjoy its beauty!

I went into 2023 with a huge appetite for travel but very few plans to do so. Little did I know London was on the horizon, and while my annual anniversary trip was much tamer than usual in humble Huntsville AL, I was so glad to do a solo Disney World trip (again), take my girls on the road for the first time to Louisiana, and have lots of Tennessee day trips in between. Enjoy this travel journal of 379 (!!!) places, including:
🖼️ 64 Museums, Gardens, and Attractions
☕️ 53 Coffee Shops
🍽️ 82 Restaurants, Bakeries, Bars, and Food Trucks
🛏️ 29 Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, and Airbnbs
✨ and a whole bunch more!

Have you visited Michigan? In my opinion, it is one of the most underrated states and one of my absolute favorites to visit!
Although I've taken several small trips around the state, I wanted to take my husband and daughter on a full-week adventure! We visited at the end of August / beginning of September.
Save yourself hours of planning and follow this family-friendly itinerary that includes 3 cities, 2 national lakeshores, vineyards, hiking, and more! It can also be used for couples, friends, groups, and solo travel.

Asturias is a mountainous and coastal region in the North of Spain that is well known amongst Spaniards for it's natural beauty, incredible hikes, natural beaches and delicious food.
It's a different side of Spain, a far cry from the Mediterranean beaches and extravagant parties most international tourists know, but in my opinion, it's the best Spain has to offer. It is relatively unknown amongst international tourists.
This guide to Asturias is the result of my experience traveling multiple times to this region and dozens of hours of research. It has all the information you will need to travel to this part of the world and save you hours and hours of planning and stress.
I have included numerous recommendations on natural parks, hikes, beaches, towns and other places to visit, as well as 15+ accomodation and eating-out options in different areas of Asturias.
Most importantly, I have included information on how to get to Asturias and how to move around the region, currency, travel safety, and visa and entry requirements so you don't have to be too bothered by the logistics. I've got you covered!
This guide is divided into sections so you can read the entire guide or go to the sections that interest you the most.
It also includes an interactive map and it's mobile-friendly, so you can access all the info on your phone when you download the thatch app, and, most importantly, this is a living guide, so I'll update this at no extra cost to you.
