Emerald rivers. Glacial lakes. Hidden karsts. Historic cities. Snow-capped peaks. Sun-drenched beaches. Undiscovered wine regions. Untouched forests. You don't have to traipse all over Europe. The little country of Slovenia features everything you love about the continent in one place. So it's even been nicknamed Little Europe.
Start in the Dragon City. Ljubljana survived Roman, Habsburg, and Yugoslavian rule to become one of the greenest capitals in Europe. Then start exploring hidden caves, medieval towns, scenic drives, and a tiny sliver of coastline. There are adventure sports, award-winning restaurants, grand castles, and stunning views along the way. You'll quickly wonder why it's taken you so long to get here.
The Slovenia Guide works as a great circular road trip through Western Slovenia. Start in Ljubljana, drive north toward the Austrian border, head west toward the Italian border, circle through wine country, and end up back in the capital.
This detailed guide includes:
Places: cities, neighborhoods, towns
Stay: hotels, resorts
Eat: cafés, ice cream, Michelin stars, pizzerias, restaurants
Drink: lounges, wine bars, wineries
Shop: antique markets, toy stores
Do: bell towers, boat tours, bridges, castles, cathedrals, chapels, churches, city models, fountains, funiculars, hikes, history museums, information centers, islands, lakes, libraries, monuments, mountains, mountain ranges, national parks, parks, puppet museums, rivers, roads, squares, statues, streams, ticket offices, valleys, viewpoints, waterfalls

It has a deep, complicated history and culture, but I have come to embrace and appreciate Oakland's diversity, where people of all different professions, skin colors, and economic backgrounds live. As a devoted food enthusiast and a resident of this vibrant city, my expertly curated city guide reveals my top 100 spots in the Oakland area. It covers where to eat, drink, and what to do.

This guide has mostly spots to dine, drink and chill out in the southern end of the beautiful Gold Coast. This end of the coast has a more relaxed feel, as opposed to the tourist hotspot closer to Surfers Paradise. With recommendations from Burleigh down to Coolangatta, you’ll feel like a local as you try out these fabulous places.

Churchill is located on Hudson Bay, at the mouth of the Churchill River and on the edge of the Arctic Circle. To say Churchill is remote is an understatement. There are no
roads in, so your only way to arrive is either by air or a two
day (one way) train ride.
Churchill is known as the Polar Bear capital of the world, and is the location of the annual Beluga whale migration. Each of these has a very short season of viewing. Polar Bears can typically be found in October and November, but can vary slightly (I was lucky enough to encounter 3 in July). Beluga season is mid July to mid August. It is also one of the premier places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights. The best time for the AB is late Fall, Winter, and early Spring.
I went at the end of July and stayed for 4 nights and 5 days for the Beluga whale migration and it was worth every single penny it cost. Make no mistake, this is not an inexpensive trip due to Churchill's location. Everything has to be either flown, or railed in, so their costs reflect that. There is only one commercial airline that flies there from Winnipeg. But again, it was totally worth it and I can only describe sharing the waters with the Belugas as a magical experience. I will be back.
This guide contains a complete list of my exciting journey--to include accompanying photos I took. Even with Churchill being very small (only about 800 full time residents) there is much to see and do.
I also include many of the photos I took at each place.

Take a relaxing trip to Exit 0: A complete four-day itinerary for a journey to the southern tip of New Jersey, the nation's oldest seashore resort town. Cape May is home to roughly 600 preserved Victorian buildings and collection of quaint bed-and-breakfasts that will transport visitors to decades ago.
This itinerary comes complete with 47 locations, local activities and my favorite food recommendations. Additional honorable mention locations are included at the end as a bonus for more things to check out if you're in the area for more than a few days.
This guide will be updated seasonally as new locations are opened around town.
Housing accommodations mentioned below are based on ones recommended to me by locals. I stayed in town with a local friend and did not have much interaction with local housing.

A two and a half week visit starting in Madrid and followed by a road-trip across northern Spain crossing the Aragon, Navara, Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia regions. This was an adult-only trip that focused on enjoying the best experiences and finest ingredients across the various regions. Hotels on this itinerary are high to very high end. There are some Bonvoy hotels included because loyalty programs work!
Seeing the changes between regions was fascinating. The physical landscapes ranged from semi arid with huge sunflower fields dotting the highway, to mountain ranges that were mixed in the distance with clouds, to rolling green hills and banging coast line with surfers, families and friends enjoying the beautiful beaches all along the way.
Galicia was the sleeper hit for us. The whole north coast of Spain is quieter than Malaga, Valencia etc. and Galicia is heavy on domestic tourism. Galicia is also a great add on for those visiting Portugal.

I have seen first hand from my partner how hard it can be to be gluten free in different settings - your friends pick a place without gf options, you end up at a work dinner you didn’t have a say in, or you’re at a dinner where you don’t know if things are safe to eat or not.
Fear not, living through this first hand, we have some good tips to navigate this.
The guide below will help you think about critical questions, thoughts, and ideas that need to be addressed for someone with a gluten intolerance or allergy. I also point out places that do things well when it comes to having gluten free option.

I have visited Ireland at least once a year of my 27 years and in more recent years, I have opted to fly in through Dublin because the flights are significantly cheaper and way more frequent than to Shannon. As a result, I tend to have a day or two in Dublin on either end of my trip to see friends, family, and the wonderful city of Dublin!
I had all my Dublin recommendations in various Notes on my phone for the longest time. Since we're getting married in Ireland in May 2024, I thought it was as good a time as ever to compile all my recommendations and some other people's recommendations (thank you Kenzie, Shannon and Greg) into one Local-ish Guide to Dublin for our guests traveling to Ireland.
Dublin is Ireland's capital and largest city on the island's east coast. The River Liffey (or the Sniffy Liffey as my Auntie Sandy calls it) runs right through the center of the city dividing it into Northside and Southside, and out to Dublin Bay which feeds into the Irish Sea. Dublin, which translates to "black pool" in Irish, was founded just south of the Liffey by the Vikings in 841. Ever since Dublin has endured a turbulent history but has prevailed and been shaped into the 21st-century city it is today.
At the very end of this document is an overview of language(s), currency, climate, live weather, the best time to visit, public transportation, what to pack, and of course, travel tips!
As always, I'm happy to help you plan a custom itinerary for your trip to Dublin or the rest of Ireland! Just reach out to me directly (:

Milford Sound, known as the unofficial 8th Wonder of the World, is one of my favourite places in New Zealand and one of the countries most stunning natural attractions.
Located in the heart of Fiordland National Park, Milford Sound is home to rugged landscapes, mountain peaks, fiords, waterfalls, and some of the best hiking tracks in the world.
I’m a big, max-out-your-24-hours kind of traveler, so it’s not often I leave a place feeling as though my time there is unfinished. But I remember driving away from Fiordland, unable to take my eyes away from the tops of her mountains, feeling lucky to live in New Zealand and knowing I’d be back for more. However, most people only get the chance to visit Milford Sound once in their lifetime. So, I want to help you make the most of it!
I am a lover of hiking and this guide reflects it! You'll find two walks included that take 3 hours each. If you don't enjoy the outdoors, that's okay too! Feel free to omit them and choose another activity from my list at the end.
This itinerary is designed to be done in a campervan and does include driving. I HIGHLY recommend travelling New Zealand by campervan to stay in some of the most incredible places. BUT I'll also give you hotel recommendations too, just in case you're not into van-life.
In this guide, you'll find:
• An overview of Milford Sound
• Typical costs and how much I spent on my trip
• The best road trip stops on your drive from Queenstown
• Top rated accomodation and my favourite campsites
• Custom interactive maps full of all the important locations like campsites, supermarkets, airports and viewpoints on top of your full itinerary
• Local tips and inspiration, must-visit spots, hiking tracks, bucket list activities and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
• Much, much more.
This guide is your one-stop shop for everything you need to plan the ultimate New Zealand adventure!
You can follow this guide exactly for an amazing itinerary or combine it with your own research to create the trip of your dreams.
Please tag me in the photos and videos you take! I'd love to see your adventures: @notes2home

Koh Lipe is a lesser-known island in the south of Thailand, near the border with Malaysia, and it is 100% worth the visit.
This island is full of charm, things to do, places to visit and restaurants to try! We fell in love from the first sunset.
In this guide I will share our 4-night itinerary, arriving from Bangkok and leaving for Koh Lanta afterwards.
If by the end of this, you have not booked the trip, I will be highly disappointed ;)
