Cape May, New Jersey: A Weekend at Exit 0

Cape May, New Jersey: A Weekend at Exit 0

Take a relaxing trip to Exit 0: A complete four-day itinerary for a journey to the southern tip of New Jersey, the nation's oldest seashore resort town. Cape May is home to roughly 600 preserved Victorian buildings and collection of quaint bed-and-breakfasts that will transport visitors to decades ago. This itinerary comes complete with 47 locations, local activities and my favorite food recommendations. Additional honorable mention locations are included at the end as a bonus for more things to check out if you're in the area for more than a few days. This guide will be updated seasonally as new locations are opened around town. Housing accommodations mentioned below are based on ones recommended to me by locals. I stayed in town with a local friend and did not have much interaction with local housing.

Welcome to Cape May, NJ

How to Get There

With three international airport options not too far away, flights arrive daily from all across the country. We recommend flying into Philly as a first choice option for the best flight times and prices available. Once you land, you will need to rent a car to drive to Cape May.

Philadelphia International Airport
@WeekendPostcards
Located 68 miles from Cape May, PHL is the best option for flying to Cape May ahead of renting a car (about a 2 hour drive). Philadelphia has a wide range of flight options arriving daily from around the country. There is a train/bus combo you can take to get to cape may (about 4 hours of travel)

Atlantic City International Airport
@WeekendPostcards
Located 40 miles north of Cape May, NJ, Atlantic City International airport is serviced by select routes on American Airlines and Spirit Airlines (occasionally Sun Country will land here as well). While it is the closest airport, PHL may be your best bang for your buck on travel day.

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport
@WeekendPostcards
Depending on where you're traveling from, BWI might be the best airport to fly into. It is about 95 miles from Cape May, we do not recommend this as a first option, although it does service a good part of the country and may be your cheapest option.
