The Shropshire Hills were designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty in 1958 and cover almost a quarter of Shropshire. There are over 160 hills in Shropshire, making it a great location to hike the Shropshire Hills. The tallest hill is Abdon Burf at 540m. The beauty of these hills, as with all of nature, is how they change with the seasons, giving a different experience depending on the time of year you visit with the varied conditions, colours and wildlife. I have hiked Stiperstones at least 20 times and each occasion has been different to the last and just as wonderful. I have also taken to learning about the history, myths and legends associated with them. Here I have chosen my top 5 Shropshire Hills for hiking, I hope it inspires you to get into the hills and get exploring!

Friday Harbor is a magical, harbor town in the San Juan Islands of Washington. It is on San Juan Island, one of the three largest islands in this archipelago. If you are a seafaring, wildlife loving, outdoors person you have found your little piece of heaven. It is all here. Even those of you who love to shop or just people watch, Friday Harbor is the place for you.
I brought my granddaughter here for her high school graduation gift and we spent four nights and five days exploring every inch of the island. We sailed, went whale watching, lighthouse hunting, and sometimes just relaxed with a drink and incredible views (ok, it was only me with the adult beverage).
In this guide I share with you all the places we went, where we stayed, how we got there, and some wonderful restaurants. This is your one stop shop to Friday Harbor.
I also include many of the photos I took at each place.

If you enjoy the wild west, rodeo or wildlife, then you need to plan a visit to Cody Wyoming.
Cody was founded by none other than Buffalo Bill Cody, who brought the wild west to life. 🐃 Bill Cody traveled around the world, performing in his Wild West show.
He still lives on in Cody. The Irma Hotel hosts his show daily. His museum, Buffalo Bill Center of the West, at the edge of town, is the largest of its kind, housing 5 distinctive museums dedicated to everything related to the Wild West. Cody also hosts a championship rodeo every night with a multitude of events.
Put on your cowboy boots and hat and settle in for a few days. There is plenty here to see and do. Not to mention that Cody is the eastern gateway to Yellowstone National Park.

Sayulita is a charming beach town on the Pacific coast of Mexico, know for its laid back atmosphere, vibrant surf culture and stunning natural beauty. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a taste of local culture, Sayulita has something to offer for most travellers.
Things to do:
1. Surfing; Sayulita is renowned for its surfing conditions suitable for both experienced and beginner surfers. With many local surf schools you can rent a board and ride the waves at sayulita beach or head to nearby breaks like La Lancha.
2. Beach time: If you're heading to Sayulita you're going to want to spend time soaking up the rays on the beach. The main beach on Sayulita is going to be busy and bustling with life. If you want to get away from that you can take a walk up to Playa de Los Muertos for find your perfect piece of sand.
3. Explore the town: A fun vibrant colourful town that always has something going on. Wander the streets to find local galleries, shops and restaurants (you'll find some of my favourites listed below)
4. Hiking and Nature: If venturing into the jungle is more your style there are plenty of scenic trails that you can take that will lead you to breath taking views and secret waterfalls. The Sierra Madre Mountains boasts plenty of opportunity for this.
5. Yoga & Wellness: Yoga and surfing often go hand in hand and Sayulita is no different here. There are many studios that offer daily sessions, retreats and workshops. There is something to fit all level of yogis.
Getting Around:
Sayulita is a relatively small town and therefore is easy enough to walk around on foot. Bicycles and golf carts are also available readily for hire to make the journey a little more enjoyable. There are also local taxi's and buses for longer journeys.
When to Visit:
Sayulita is nicest during the hot dry season which runs from November to April. During these months you can expect warm, sunny weather. The main tourist season also falls within this time -the busiest around the holidays and spring break (March).
If you're looking for cooler temperatures and don't mind the occasional rain shower May, June, September, October may suits you better.
Tips:
- Respect the Environment: Sayulita is home to a lot of marine wildlife including the lovely sea turtles that call it home when its time to lay their eggs. Please be respectful by disposing of your waste responsibly, avoiding single use plastics, opting to eat in instead of taking away and supporting local eco friendly businesses.
- Cash is King: While some of the local businesses accept credit card most do not. It is helpful to always have cash with you, especially for smaller transactions and purchases.
- Eating gluten-free: Most establishments are very good with this although there is sometimes confusion about corn being gluten. I would recommend writing out a card in Spanish of your allergies if you have them so you can give it to the restaurants if need be.

THE STOP-BY-STOP GUIDE TO OUR HONEYMOON JOURNEY IN AFRICA 🇹🇿 🇰🇪 🇸🇨
When we first started talking about where we wanted to honeymoon, it felt overwhelming. We had a million ideas to sift through and felt a lot of pressure to get it just right. I've got to say I think we nailed it with this trip. It has all the elements you could want in a honeymoon - luxury, solitude, adventure, relaxation, romance, and memories to last a lifetime.
On this itinerary, you’ll sample some of the most iconic places in East Africa where you’ll get up close with big cats, the Great Migration, and other favorite African wildlife. The camps suggested here are perfect for a honeymoon. The staff blew us away with their warmth, attention to detail, and expertise. The food and accommodations were as good, but likely better, than anywhere we’ve stayed in the world, and we got to enjoy it all in relative solitude (all camps had 10 rooms or less).
After the time on Safari, you’ll head to one of the most picturesque tropical destinations in the world, the Seychelles. The beaches here are famous - as movie backdrops, screensavers, & more - and there are dozens of beauties to explore. The resort we chose was villa-style, equipped with an unbelievable tub and private plunge pool, meaning we got to have a slice of this paradise to ourselves as well.
I know I’m biased, but if you’re planning a big romantic trip, whether for a honeymoon, a milestone anniversary, or whatever reason, you have to consider this itinerary. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer.

Storytime….back in the late 60’s when my mom was in college, she worked at Jenny Lake Lodge in exchange for room and board and horseback riding on her days off. Fast forward decades later, to my little family’s road trip where we stumbled across this magical place called the Grand Tetons and of course, cozy Jenny Lake. We fell in love with the magnificent views, quintessential mountain lakes and wildlife galore!
Please enjoy these highlights and lodging links. I hope you love it there as much as I do! If you would like a “done for you” personalized itinerary, or consultation see link at the end of Guide.
