Storytime….back in the late 60’s when my mom was in college, she worked at Jenny Lake Lodge in exchange for room and board and horseback riding on her days off. Fast forward decades later, to my little family’s road trip where we stumbled across this magical place called the Grand Tetons and of course, cozy Jenny Lake. We fell in love with the magnificent views, quintessential mountain lakes and wildlife galore!
Please enjoy these highlights and lodging links. I hope you love it there as much as I do! If you would like a “done for you” personalized itinerary, or consultation see link at the end of Guide.
Popular hike with beautiful views of Tetons. Pretty easy/slightly moderate 3 mile hike to an amazing lake. Parking fills up early. Hike it counterclockwise and take a dip in the lake.

Jenny Lake
Jenny Lake Boating provides shuttle services across Jenny Lake at the base of Mount Teewinot. On the West side of the lake you will find the Cascade Canyon trailhead. There are trails from the boat dock to Hidden Falls (1/2 mile each way), Inspiration Point (1 mile each way) and into Cascade Canyon that leads North to Solitude Lake or South to the South Fork of Cascade Canyon, and beyond to Hurricane Pass and Schoolroom Glacier.
The Snake River is classified as a Class III (Grade 3) river. This is on the international scale, which is a Class I – Class V scale. This means this stretch of the river is an intermediate rating and is great for all rafters. Of course, the time of year affects the flow so the trip will be a bit (High June, July; low August, September)
I’m not a thrill seeker and I thoroughly enjoyed our mid-July Classic Whitewater 16-18 person boat trip for what that’s worth! See, I’m even smiling in pic#2.
For those wanting to just sit back and relax or those with younger rafters, they offer the Wilson Scenic Float with views of the Tetons.

NOTES:
Possible Itineraries:
If you can at GTNP do sunrise at Schwabacher Landing then head straight to Mormon Row to see the early sun on the Moulton Barn. Then if you’re up for an amazing hike do Taggart Lake - a pretty easy/slightly moderate 3 mile hike to an amazing lake. From there head up to Jenny Lake for lunch and to see more beauty. Head over to the east side in the afternoon. You’ll prob see some beautiful horses and bison in an open field. Then see Oxbow Bend just 15 minutes north of there.
GTNP we had two days. We did Jenny Lake shuttle and hiked to inspiration point. Also hike to Taggart Lake and Phelps Lake. Sunrise at Snake River. Drove up to Jackson Lake and stops along the way at outlooks . Packed full days but worth it. On way out of town did tram at Jackson Hole Resort for waffles (must do) and stopped at Mormon Row.
We loved this great family option. They have multiple room options including: Double, Family, Single, Studio, and Suites.
Each room includes air conditioning, free WiFi, a flat-screen TV, coffee facilities, microwaves and refrigerators.
Located 5 minutes' walk from the Jackson Town Square and within 3.1 mi from Grand Teton National Park and 12 mi Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
If you can nab a site at Signal Lodge Campgroud do it! We were about 2.5 weeks into a 4 week road trip and the Wi-Fi, clean laundromat and comfort restroom and showers were this mama’s dream come true.
We were in Site 2. Its location is right as you enter the loop which means everyone drives by you but it’s proximity to the laundry and showers made it a great site for our short stay.

Breathtaking does not begin to describe the view at the historic Jackson Lake Lodge. The 60-foot floor to ceiling windows frame pristine Jackson Lake and the majestic Teton Range. We visited the lodge for this view alone!
Hey there! I'm ready to whisk you away on the most amazing adventures. With a wanderlust that knows no bounds, I've been fortunate to explore fascinating destinations across the globe, from the bustling streets of Asia to the sunny beaches of the Caribbean. Closer to home, I've embarked on epic road trips through the U.S. National Parks, immersing myself in the breathtaking beauty of nature. Even if I've never traveled somewhere before, I obsessively research until its almost like I have been there.
My passion is what I call "high-low" travel. It's all about combining wallet-friendly accommodations and activities with those little indulgences that make a trip truly unforgettable. Let me show you how to sprinkle a dash of extravagance into your adventure without breaking the bank.
Examples of some of my recommendations of my local area of Northern California:
- My favorite cozy boutique hotel with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge
- A near impossible beach-side campsite (and how to snag a site!)
- The best bookstore with local author book signings
