Active volcanoes. Dancing northern lights. Gushing geysers. Massive glaciers. Thermal hot springs. Thundering waterfalls. Iceland is the ultimate adventure destination. How have you not been here yet? It’s finally time. Start in the northernmost capital in the world. Reykjavik is a hip, modern city. Then start exploring the wild coastline, the sheep-filled countryside, the icy interior, and the peaceful islands. There are plenty of black-sand beaches, small fishing villages, turf-roofed houses, and epic hikes along the way. Just remember to pack layers. Sometimes, the Gulf Stream provides moderate temperatures. Other times, it’ll feel like you’re in the Arctic. Also don’t forget the long, dark winters and the 24-hour daylight during the short summers. If you take advantage of Icelandair’s free stopover program—a great excuse to visit Helsinki, Copenhagen, and even Paris—you can keep returning to discover which season you like best. This detailed guide includes: Places: regions, cities, islands, peninsulas, towns, neighborhoods Stay: hotels Eat: bakeries, cafés, coffee shops, food carts & trucks, food halls, ice cream, Michelin stars, pizzerias, restaurants, soup Drink: beer bars, breweries, cocktail bars, wine bars Shop: beauty products, bookstores, Christmas stores, chocolate shops, clothing boutiques, flea markets, knitwear, outdoor wear, record stores, vintage clothing, wool products Do: art museums, bays, beaches, bridges, caves, churches, concert venues, cultural centers, fjords, geothermal areas, geysers, harbors, hikes, history museums, horseback riding, hot springs, lagoons, lakes, lighthouses, memorials, mountains, national forests, national parks, natural wonders, nature reserves, parks, peace stones, ponds, roads, rock formations, rocks, rootless cones, scenic drives, sculptures, shipwrecks, sports venues, squares, streets, swimming pools, thermal baths, tunnels, valleys, viewpoints, volcanoes, walks, waterfalls Transportation: airports, bus terminals, car rentals, ferries, parking lots, transfers Note: I travel to Iceland frequently, so this guide is updated often.

Where else but in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea might you find such a little, gorgeous island? Malta is a lovely place to go for a summer beach holiday, however… the islands of Malta have a rich history that has yet to be explored. Will a week be sufficient? Due to its compact size, Malta allows visitors to maximize their sightseeing potential. This Itinerary is based on my explorations and carefully chosen places based on the best reviews, and my experience for an amazing road trip in Malta in the offseason. There are three islands to choose from, but You will only have time to explore two of them—Malta and Gozo—in just seven days. If You go in the off-season, however, You may also have time to visit Comino. Don’t waste Your money and time staying in different places if you’re traveling just for a week, do it only if it’s Your comfy home on wheels and you’re staying there. To give you an idea of how effective this can be, consider the following: two nights at one hotel on the island of Gozo, remaining nights in one hotel on the Maltese mainland, and one day of exploration in Comino without lodging. If you’re flying and hiring a car at the airport, Gozo as a first destination will be more convenient, but for the following days, explore Malta’s mainland. The streets are mostly tiny in Malta so be prepared for that.

Sharing my personal list of 200 local spots in over 23 Kootenay communities! The Kootenay region is a haven for anyone seeking recreation and relaxation, who wants something a tad quieter than Banff and Canmore. Located just West of the Southern Canadian Rockies, the Kootenays have charming small towns, jaw-dropping landscapes, friendly people, a relaxed energy and more trails than one could possible explore in a lifetime. As a local who lives here, and has travelled throughout the East and West Kootenays, there are so many incredible places/things/spots/shops in this region that deserve the same hype as their Alberta mountain town neighbours. The Kootenay's are just as cool (but quieter and more affordable)! Included in my list of 200 favourite local Kootenay spots, you'll find.. - Local Coffee Shops - Local Shops & Specialty Stores - Local Accommodations - Local Restaurants & Cafes - Local activities, trails and must see's* ⭐️ = My #1 must see in the community! Everywhere listed in the guide is a place I have personally been, or a place that I have on my list to visit as quickly as possible (but that I know other locals visit and love). * All the trails, activities and recreation recommendations are beginner/family friendly, no multi-day or difficult hikes here. If you're really into a specific sport, this guide will really help shape the rest of your trip to the area outside of your hike/ride/skiing. The Kootenays are a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, active families and nature lovers - an incredible destination to explore for all.
