The Ultimate British Columbia 15-day itinerary
The Basics
🇨🇦 About British Columbia
British Columbia is the westernmost province of Canada, nestled between the Pacific ocean on one side and the Rocky mountains on the other. Two thirds of it are covered in forests, and more than half of this area is basically untouched by humans. British Columbia has 27,000 km of coastline, therefore many towns are only accessible by air or sea.
Half of British Columbia's population live in the metropolitan area of Vancouver. However, Vancouver is not BC's capital, Victoria is, a small city located on Vancouver Island (which is different from the city of Vancouver, do you follow?). Due to its proximity with Asia, there is a large Asian community, as well as British influences (as you would expect it from its name) and a strong indigenous culture.
🌤 Climate
British Columbia benefits from the mildest climate of all Canada. Forget about long freezing winters, around the coast the temperature rarely drops below 0°C (32°F). However, it is quite wet, and Vancouver is even nicknamed "Raincouver". Summers are usually rather dry, and never too hot (25°-30°C / 77-86°F max). You can even get these higher temperatures in the mountainous areas, but the snow usually melts quite late up there (late June-July).
