In the past decade, the Copenhagen food scene has really exploded. From the high-end food scene, to the cozy cafés selling the local BMO (scroll to find out what it is!) - you definitely won't leave this city hungry. But you'll probably be a little bit broke.
In this guide, I've saved all my favorite places (plus in the bottom, I added if they have additional locations/branches) - and I'll also continuously add any new spots that I try.

I'm traveling to Copenhagen in May 2023. This is my list of 100+ destinations based on tens of hours of research from well-trusted sources that range from personal contacts to travel experts and publications.
The list is categorized by place type, inclusive of restaurants, cafés, shops, museums, and playgrounds. While my research accounts for the fact that I'll have my 2-year-old daughter in tow, I don't exclude things because of that.
After my trip in May, I will update this based on my experience and highlights.

I know what you're thinking...I can't wait to eat some Danishes! Well, guess what? In Denmark, these laminated pastries are called wienerbrød or in English "Vienna bread". Why you ask? Austrian bakers brought the technique of laminated dough to Denmark in the mid-1800s after Danish bakers went on strike. Luckily, København has some amazing bakeries.
Enough about the history of wienerbrød. What should you eat?

I used to live in Paris, so when I return, I pick where I stay based on what I'm hoping to see and do. Paris is magically a massive city that remains largely walkable, and strolling the City of Light is not only an easy way to get around, but most Parisians' favorite past time.
Wander (flâner) amidst the Haussmannian architecture, picnic in the gardens, get lost in the Louvre, sip coffee or wine on a terrasse, fill up on crêpes and vintage books, watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle– this magical city is meant to be shared.
These are some of the best central hotel options in Paris that will allow you to explore the city by foot.

Liege or Brussels waffle? That's the question!
Both taste heartbreaking yet look different:
The Liege one is thicker & softer with crunchy round edges made of caramelized sugar while the squared Brussels one is lighter & airy sprinkled icing sugar.
Sweet or savoury? You decide!

Psst: I'm not Norweigan, nor do I live in Bergen. BUT, I scoured the internet, TikTok, Atlas Obscura, Viator, ChatGPT, brochures, etc. to thoroughly plan this trip, not to mention asked our local Fjord tour guide for his personal recs.
I've done (nearly) everything suggested on this itinerary for Days 1-3. Days 4-6 are suggestions based on my research/time I wish I had! *Some day trip suggestions may require a car.
🌱I travel with sustainability in mind. Bergen (and Norway) is a super green destination! You can do electric, zero emissions Fjord cruises (see my tour rec!), there are electric city buses, most cars are electric, and there’s simple transport by tram from the airport into the city. Norway’s incredible nature is one of the main draws, with lots of low-carbon activities to do like hiking and kayaking. Plus, the beauty of the majestic Fjords will blow you away and remind you how incredible our planet is 💚
This trip was planned for a group of 4 friends (2 couples) traveling together, without a car. Our intentions were to explore Bergen and the surrounding areas, spend time visiting with each other, and not break the bank (while not foregoing iconic experiences).
